Skogskyrkogården

The Memorial Grove Use the stairs Almhöjden Skogskrematoriet Counting Tourists
Another visit to the woodland cemetery at Enskede. I started my photo project at this World Heritage Site last Autumn. The top photo shows flowers at the memorial grove, which is located on top of a grassy hill. The second photo shows the view you see while walking up that hill. Which is the hill next to it, The Meditation Hill. Or Almhöjden. I often sit up there eating my lunch. The stairs are named after the architect, Gunnar Asplund who is buried nearby. Photo number four shows the old crematorium and three of the chapels at the cemetery, and along the stone path, the big cross, also designed by the agnostic architect. We finish today's tour from a bench at the mirror pond, looking up at the Meditation Hill where a group of tourists is making their way down.I think they were Italian.

It is quite a place.
It was so sad to hear the news about Borje Salming having ALS. It was the 1st item on our news this morning as he so popular here in Toronto. One of the best.
