Five Doors Down

Norr Mälarstrand 26 Mind your head Von der Lindeska huset Plywood entrance Cirio
I have been known to photograph a lot of windows. So much so that local doors started to complain about it, so I will try to make amends with this door post, pun intended. The first door is a favorite. Located at Norr Mälarstrand on Kungsholmen. Notice how the pot plants have the address written on them! Next one shows one of very few modern buildings in the old town. Mind your head. Still in the old town this is the entrance to Von der Lindeska huset. Here is my rant about the fourth photo. Most of the buildings in the Old Town dates back a bit. The name kinda gives it away. There are a lot of rules and regulations that you need to know if you would like to change anything. This is Salviigränd. Named after a man who donated a winged retable to the Great Church back in 1654. Chances are he would roll over in his grave if he saw this modern entrance at a building on the alley that bears his name. We finish with a door to a lawyer firm at Biblioteksgatan. The impressive wooden reliefs on the door were made by the sculptor Christian Eriksson a century ago, long before the laywers arrived.

Ten street scenes

Everyone wants a photo Similar in style Colorful Happy to be there Övergångsställe Champion Biblioteksgatan Brödernas Gatuarbete Hello!
A tourist insisting on a close-up photo of a dog in the old town. The owner striking a pose and explaining to his friend that everyone wants a photo of the dog. Young and old on a park bench at Stureplan. It was their similar style of clothing that made me take the shot. A colorful woman crossing the street at Nybroplan. A happy woman smartphoning at Stortorget. A group of people waiting at a stop light at Strandvägen. Champion cyclist with a posh looking leather bag eyeing the Gucci store where he will buy another posh bag. Mother and daughter trying to find a shop at Biblioteksgatan. A well-fed man looking at the photographer near a hamburger joint. Workers busy stopping the flow of tourists coming and going at Gamla stan. And lastly, a guy in his apartment at Söder Mälarstrand noticing the photographer as he takes another photo to his Fenestration album.

Navalnyigatan
Not dead, but murdered. Alexey Navalny memorial next to the Russian embassy at Fria Ukrainas plats. At Marieberg on Kungsholmen in Stockholm. There is a bus stop here that now is called Fria Ukrainas plats. It has a big Ukrainian flag on it.

A boardwalk promenade at Lilla Essingen

Lilla Essingen Gröndal Utkiksbacken Reimersholme Färgfabriken Under the bridge Balconies Luxviken Lilla Essingen Primusgatan
I took the bike over to a tiny island in Stockholm called Lilla Essingen. Parked at a marina, took a photo of a few boats before walking along the shore and the boardwalk snapping away left and right, and here are the photos. The second photo shows the suburb Gröndal. Still in Gröndal on the third photo, but up on a hill called Ormberget. A century ago, the houses here were built for the working class. The cupola on the top building were often used as a landmark by sailors passing through Lake Mälaren below the hill. Next we see a few apartment buildings on another island, Reimersholme. Färgfabriken means the color factory. Located at Liljeholmen with the new high rises as a backdrop to show architectural differences! I shot the red buildings from the boardwalk, aiming the camera under a very busy bridge. The area is known as Genova. Next, four photos from Luxviken at Lilla Essingen. This area used to an industrial part of the city, but that started to change some twenty years ago when all the industries closed and were replaced with new apartments.

Three works of art

Stockholm - Gamla stan Window shopping Stockholm
I took a walk in the Old Town earlier in the week. It was very cold. Freezing. And not too many people out and about. Perfectly understandable. Most visitors probably checked out a museum or two. I found a few paintings during my walk. Top photo shows how the Polish illustrator and artist Magda Korotynska see the Old Town. You can buy a poster for 150SEK. Spotted outside a store at Västerlånggatan. I don't have any info about the other paintings, although the third one shows a building at Mariaberget on Södermalm. I found them at three different stores.

Cherry Blossom

The old geezer Try to look cool, okay? Cherry Blossom Cherry Blossom It is happening The kids are all right Springtime Smartphoning Kungsträdgården
After that freezing day, it was a bit warmer yesterday. But I was still in Winter uniform, minus the long johns from two days ago. I figured the warm weather would be enough for the Cherry Blossom to get under way, so I headed over to The King's park. A bit of a slow start but it all counts. Here are the photos I took.

The Orange Man

Apelsinmannen
Apelsinmannen. The Orange Man, is a TV miniseries from 1990. Based on a novel by Birgitta Stenberg. It starred Görel Crona, an actress that I had a big crush on back in the day. That memory popped up as I watched this guy place the oranges in the window at Café Schweizer during my walk through the Old Town yesterday.

Another street collage

Sixteen recent Stockholm snaps
The weather is still playing tricks with me so here is another collage with sixteen recent Stockholm images. A couple of snaps from my second sitting at the statue of the old King when I did the panning project.Three photos of people at different pedestrian crossings including one at Skeppsbron where a woman on an escooter decided not to see the stoplight. A statue at Kornhamnstorg. People at a bus-stop at Vasagatan. A plane heading for the airport, just before it disappears behind the great church in the Old Town. A woman waiting for customers at a fast food stall. Asian tourist snapping away towards Mariaberget. People out walking at Tegelbacken. Two workers enjoying lunch out on a fancy balcony. A few photos from Kungsträdgården. And one snap towards Slussen, the never ending construction site.

Caught in the spider's web

Caught in the spider's web
-1C this morning. Took a short promenade in the forest just now, so this photo is ten minutes old. Because of the very light snow fall, you could see the many spiderwebs covered with the white stuff.

Another Stockholm street collage

Sixteen recent street scenes
Horrible weather here at the moment. Freezing as I am typing this, so I will continue with another sixteen-photo collage from a few days ago when it was warm and sunny. In the collage, you can see people sitting at an outdoor café at a square in the old town. Also people on benches at Tegelbacken, which is close to Stockholm Sheraton. Seven photos from a walk along Vasagatan near the Central Station. Also, four photos from Kungsträdgården, The King's Park.

How many officers does it take...

How many officers does it take...
In this case, six. Four police officers and two security guards. Not sure what the issue was, maybe he just needed some help. A few minutes later when I walked past them, the man was helped into the police van. As seen at Vasagatan in Stockholm. The building was once known as the Central Post Office Building. I "worked" there for a couple of weeks as a ninth-grader. Today a Government building.

Spotify HQ

Unlucky number
Walking past Spotify HQ at Regeringsgatan, (Government street), in Stockholm. Known as Urban Escape, a very modern office building, designed by White Arkitekter. The street is one of the oldest in the city, just over a kilometer long. It starts at the Royal Palace.

Ten photos from Lake Drevviken

Swan Lake Drevviken Bird Photographer Terrasshuset Spot the rooster Vattenspegling Hökarängsbadet Badbrygga New jetty Drevviken
It was one of those rare calm days this cold and windy Spring. I decided to make a few pit-stops at Lake Drevviken, at Larsboda. First at the circular pier where I spotted another photographer. I walked out for a few reflection photos of buildings at Sköndal, including the terrace house that you have probably seen before. I then continued over to the boardwalk, where I got a closer look at the swans and a nice view over the beach with some of the new apartment buildings as a backdrop. My next stop was the beach, Hökarängsbadet, where I tested the brand-new jetty. The old one had been taken over last Autumn by a large group of Canada Geese, which I showed you back then. This is the same area, btw, where I have shown you a number of Winter views with ice skaters out on the then frozen lake.
