Meanwhile at the haunted cafe

Boo! It's Halloween
A few scary incidents at my favorite cafe, Malmens konditori, lately. A bunch of ghosts have been seen flying around scaring people. As it is Halloween I was treated to a tasty pastry by one of the regulars.

Ormsta Village

Östergården Jordbruksland
A few of the old farms at Ormsta in a rural part of Haninge. Östergården and Ormsta Skattegården. If you understand the local lingo you can read a few facts about Ormsta at Haninge.org. The land around here is owned by the church and the farmland is used by the farmer at Hammarby Gård, Rolf Norlin. It was a beautiful day when I took these photos. I climbed up a hunting blind at Holmen from where I had a good view over the forest and fields. It is moose hunting season so I didn't dare walk into the forest but I could hear a lot of shooting while I ate my lunch.

That Old Tree

That Old Tree That Old Tree
My two latest photos of the old tree. I really liked the color tones in the first one and as i had a feeling the leaves would be gone in a few days time i decided to check up on it a couple of days later.

Low Autumn Sun

Low Autumn Sun
Found this on the fence at the Krigslida commuter platform yesterday. Guerrilla knitting. Or Yarn bombing. Or Urban knitting. Whatever you call it, I like it.

The Green Business Park

Vertigo
I took the bike through the forest, followed that with a walk, before climbing over a new fence to get to the edge of this new cliff in Handen. An eighty hectare big industrial park, Albyberg, is taken shape below me. There has been a lot of blasting here over the last 12 months or so, press here for a huge panorama, and it was easy to see the result up on the cliff. A big forest is no more. A new roundabout is being finished along the Dalarövägen this Autumn. A few structures are already up, and I think that the first company are already up and running here.

A Splash of Yellow

Autumn Yellow
There are a few old building left from when Rudans Gård was still active. Today they are used by different groups, including the ski club, theater group and fishing club. Most people arrive to the Nature Reserve via the seriously ugly spiral that I have showed you before. But if you, like me use a bike, chances are that you take the old road to Rudan and if you do so you will most likely cross this old stone bridge. What you don't see here is a building that is now ready to accommodate some of the thousands of refugees that arrive to Sweden every day.

Water droplets

Water Droplets on Autumn Leaf
Not much rain in October until we got a few millimeters earlier in the week. I was of course out on the steel horse when the rain started, and biking in the rain in Autumn is never much fun. The following day I took another bike ride to the Rudan nature reserve where I tried my luck at photographing droplets on autumn leaves

The Water Towers

The Two Towers Water Tower
The old water towers in Handen before and after the face lift. The new design is thanks to HMXW architects. They call it Mirrors & Triangles. It will be a landmark in Handen that's for sure, because no one ever noticed the old ( and rather ugly), towers and no one will miss the "new" towers. The twin towers now have a reflective surface that will change with the daylight and the seasons. They differ a bit in design and one tower will reflect more of the sky than the other. I guess I should make this a new project and show some photos every now and then.

Madame Hussein

Madame Hussein
Never seen the former dictator Saddam Hussein used in advertising before. I wonder if the kids recognize Madame Hussein? Found on my recent photo promenade in Handen.

Me and a new facade

Facade Selfie of the Day I went for a photo walk in Handen with a friend the other day. We checked out what will be the new secondary school at the Fredrika Bremer-gymnasium, and that's where I took these two photos. The selfie was an obvious one don't you think. The top photo is from what will probably be a machine hall in the new school.

Haninge Trail

Hanna "Happy" Gunolf The Winner Hello! Ana Fernando
The Haninge Trail took place at the picturesque Rudan Nature Reserve in Handen yesterday. Three hundred and fifty people of all ages took part in the event. There was one 5k run, one 10k run and then last but not least the 17k run for the more dedicated runners. The weather was absolutely fantastic, I have added two such views in the slideshow. On this day everyone was a winner and they all got medals. On the top photo you can see Hanna "Happy" Gunolf. The second photo shows the winner of the 17k run Niclas Sjögren. The smiling people in the third photo are Ulf Elf and Sofie Grundberg. The tough girl in the fourth photo is Ana Fernando. Oh, and if you can't see the slideshow press here.

Powered Paragliding

Paramotoring Paramotor in flight
Great weather this weekend. Very calm, blue sky, quite warm, great for the outdoors types. Like me, and perfect for the powered paragliders. Spotted them at two different places yesterday. These photos are from Välsta in Tungelsta. Near the old tree, and I did manage to get one snap of the tree with a paraglider. Press here to see that one.

Tiny Flowers

Macrography Tiny Wall Flower
Three macro photos of tiny white flowers. In the grass near the old tree. On a field in Österhaninge. And on the stone wall at the Medieval church. You would probably have missed them but I have a weird walk these days and spend most of the time looking down!

Stone Wall

Rusty Metal Ring Autumn leaf
I sometimes visit the Medieval church and cemetery in Österhaninge. There's always something to photograph. Like a rusty metal ring or an autumn leaf.

That Old Tree

That Old Tree Ripe fruit
It is getting colder now. Luckily for me the sun came out for a few minutes during my visit to the old tree yesterday. Both photos shot with the pancake lens. The tree photo is a panoramic image made from nine photos. Shot the red fruit using the extension tubes.

A Midsummer Memory

A midsummer memory
Remember Summer, or Midsummer even? Long gone now are the warm Summer evenings. This was the scene on a recent visit to my favorite beach. Overlooking the bay there once was a hotel. All that is left from that era is an open-air dance dance floor. And this years Midsummer Pole.

A closer look

Macrography St John's-wort
I got a few funny looks from passersby while out shooting a bunch of photos of Geranium and St John's wort during the weekend. I should probably be glad that no one photographed me while I was crawling on all fours to get a few good macro photos near the Gullringskärrets nature reserve. I could use some quality knee-pad inserts and warm finger gloves because it is getting colder now. I am not going to tell you how many photos I deleted while shooting these, but it was a few!

Ultra Marathon Winners

The Winner The Winner
The SUM took place today. Short for Sörmlands Ultra Marathon Race. A 50 km race that starts at Björkhagen and finishes at Lake Rudan in Handen. Must be one of the most beautiful places to run a marathon. The athletes run through nature reserves and also the Tyresta national park. The winners this year were familiar faces for me. Daniel Nilsson and Kajsa Berg. Amazing athletes both of them. Kajsa has won two European Championships before. Earlier this year she gave birth to twins! I decided to spend some time at the finishing area and you can see a few more photos from this years race at flickr.

Utility Box Art

Utility Box
In several cities around the world utility boxes have been turned into works of art. That is yet to happen in Haninge but I have still decided to start a new photo project called Utility Boxes. So far it is is only graffiti artists and taggers that use them as art objects but you never know what might happen in the future. This box or elskåp as we call them over here can be found along the bike path between Västerhaninge and Jordbro.

Macrography

Fibonacci Spirals Autumn Blue
Another Thursday Walk with the extension tubes and the pancake lens (40mm). This time I decided to just stop at a given moment and have a closer look around and this is what I found. Well, I found a few more interesting plants, but these were the two first photos that I took during this short walk in Jordbro. A Fibonacci spiral and a blue flower.

An Autumn Promenade

Autumn Green Umbrellas on the beach A Sign of Spring... The Hugly Fungi Yellow on Red
This is what I found in the forest yesterday. I decided to take a Thursday Walk, and picked the Rudan nature reserve for the promenade. The surprise of the day was the wood anemone, which is your typical Spring flower. The hugly fungi grew next to the anemone, which in turn grew next to the other fungi. I named that photo Umbrellas on the beach.
