HICAMS

Karolinska’s Intensive Care Helicopter. Helicopter Intensive Care Medical Service, or HICAMS, landing at Nya Karolinska. It is an AgustaWestland AW139. I was out walking at the campus when I heard the helicopter so I just lifted the mirrorless and took a few quick snaps.

A fly-by

Walking around the Northern Burial Place in Solna I suddenly heard the sound of a low flying helicopter. I had time to notice a pair of legs as a helicopter flew by. It was the armed forces and the police in a joint training exercise. I had to be quick and change the setting to 1/100th of a second, which is my "helicopter setting", and one second later it dissapeared behind the trees.

Blackhawk UH-60

A Blackhawk UH-60. Known in Sweden as Helikopter 16. A Sikhorsky used by the Swedish forces in Afghanistan, mainly as an ambulance helicopter. Made an appearance during Veterans Day last weekend at Gärdet in Stockholm.

A moment in time

Sunday afternoon. The local team is playing a game of (friendly), football. Suddenly there's an injured player on the pitch. It looks serious so an ambulance is called. As it happens an ambulance helicopter is in the area and it arrives just as the ambulance does. Nice to see that things are working as they should in these Corona times.

Police helicopter chase

There we were, enjoying coffee&conversation at my favorite cafe in the Summer weather when a police officer suddenly ran past us. He was followed by a second officer, and a third, (she was kind of hot looking btw). As they ran past us they asked us if we had seen anyone suspicious looking in the area, which we had not. But in the next ten minutes or so everyone walking by the cafe looked very suspicious to us. The officers were followed by a police car, and minutes later by this helicopter that flew over the area for at least fifteen minutes. I had a look at a local Facebook group that informed us about a robbery/theft/something or other at the nearby Haninge mall. A few updates later one of two suspects had been arrested near Eskilsparken so we relaxed and enjoyed another cup of coffee at the cafe.

Power line inspection

I noticed a new helipad at Vattenfall,(state owned power company),in Jordbro a while back. That day maybe fifteen technicians stood around the machine so it was tricky to get any photos of it. A bit easier this time around. I sat on a bench near the power plant, eating a light lunch while keeping an eye on the helicopter. I'm guessing that the pilot from Helicoptertjänst have been hired to do some power line inspections.

Under Attack

Two helicopters flew over my head earlier in the week as I was busy taking photos at Albyberg. I heard them coming long before I saw them but only had time to take a few quick snaps. My flickr friend Bengt informed me that they were Hkp14, a Sikorsky UH-60M Black Hawk.(Thanks Roger), Might have been part of Flygvapenövning 2016. A joint operation with the Finnish Airforce.

Ambulance Helicopter

Theme Day. Action. This is an ambulance helicopter circling over central Handen earlier this year. I was talking to a few people when we suddenly heard the helicopter. I grabbed my camera and took a few quick photos before it disappeared over the roof tops. They were trying to find a place to land, and a minute later they touched down on a grassy area in a nearby park. The reason for all this was that a man was running after a bus, he slipped and was run over by the bus, his life could not be saved.

Taxi!

An IFR equipped Bell 206-3 Long Ranger III from Arlanda Helicopter. They have a heliport at Gamla Stan in Stockholm. I could hear the helicopter closing in and it landed just a few meters from me in Handen yesterday. I'm guessing someone called for a helicopter taxi and needed to get to Arlanda in a hurry. This helicopter is also used by the armed forces as an ISF trainer.

Sea Knight

A Boeing Vertol 107 helicopter from the Swedish Marine, flying over the nature reserve Gålö in the Haninge archipelago. I have a thing for air planes and helicopters. If I hear something overhead I have to stop and take a photo. This helicopter has many uses. The Swedish Air Force have used it as a rescue helicopter since 1963. The Swedish Marine used it when they were trying to find those mysterious subs at the Hårsfjärden Bay in Haninge back in the 1980ths. This one comes from the Berga Naval Base.

Armed Robbery

There was an armed robbery at Jordbro today. Two men held up a security guard vehicle from Loomis at Moränvägen at the Jordbro Galleria. The robbers disappeared on mopeds. I was in the area and decided to stay around. Took some photos of police cars, onlookers and a police helicopter that circled the area for half an hour before landing in a park. More police arrived and after 20 minutes the helicopter did another search of the area.

Marine helicopter

A Vertol Helicopter from the Swedish Marine flying over Gålö . From a visit to the nature reserve last month. I was taking photos of some giants kettle at Noor when I heard the helicopter. I just had time to lift the camera for a quick shot.

Photojournalism

There was an accident in Tungelsta today. A truck overturned in an uphill climb at Manhem Hill on Södertäljevägen. Rescue services arrived to the scene finding the lorry driver stuck under the truck. Using air bags they managed to lift up the truck and remove the driver. They then lifted him onto a stretcher and carried him across the road to a field where a waiting helicopter took off for the Karolinska hospital in Stockholm. I live only a kilometre down the road and took my bike over to the scene of the accident. I mailed a few photos to the evening papers and Expressen bought and published one of my photos. The road was closed off for three hours. No news yet about the condition of the injured driver.

Another Robbery

A police helicopter above the mall in Handen. There was a robbery here just now. A suspected bomb has been found close to a school, (second photo), Runstensskolan. 240 students have been moved to a nearby school. Police has sealed off the area. The robbers took off on mopeds. When I left the mall it was closed off from all sides. I think it was a security guard vehicle that was the target this time. Bigger helicopter photo.

Low Flying Photographer

A low flying helicopter over Bergdalen. I was drinking coffee on the veranda so I just grabbed the camera and zoomed in on the copter. It looks like there's a photographer in action.

Traffic Accident

The road from Tungelsta to Södertälje is popular with motorcyclists. Accidents happen very often. People get killed by driving too fast on the curvy road. Yesterday as I was sitting at my computer something happened. Within minutes the intersection at the school was filled with fire fighters, ambulances and police. Then an ambulance helicopter landed on the soccer pitch. I walked over with my camera. It was a collision between a motorcycle and a truck. I took a few photos went back home and mailed them to the papers. When that was done, I went back out in time to see the helicopter fly away with the injured motorcycle driver.
