October 2018 vs. May 2013

Walked over to the old tree earlier today. On my way down the familiar path I stopped for a photo of a birch and when I came home a little later I decided to match up today's photo with an early Summer photo I took here five and a half years ago.

Winter Diptych

Haven't done one of these for a while. Left side of the diptych, without the snow is from the third of January of this year. Right side from seventeenth of January. This is still a busy construction site so no one has moved in here yet. Both photos shot with the same lens and camera.

Rookie Mistakes

It was Hasse's birthday today. I had no idea. That was rookie mistake no.1. I had just finished my lunch before arriving to the cafe. That was rookie mistake no.2. Never eat a big lunch if there's birthday cake waiting around the corner! Rookie mistake no.3 was that I didn't have the camera ready when Lillian came out with the strawberry cake, but thanks to always shooting in RAW I could fix that in PS. We had time to try the cake while sitting in the sunshine outside, and it was very tasty, but within minutes it started to rain really hard, so we had to take cover indoors. All in all a nice day at the cafe.

Aging

This is my mother Lillemor, or Lillan as she is often called. Born in December of 1938. The photo to the left dates back to around 1950. It is a black and white school photo that I colorised a few years ago. The snap to the right is a bit more recent. My mother battles the aging process (PD), as best she can with the help of me and my brother, and the daily visits from the home care offered by the municipality. She was born in Tungelsta and has lived here all her life. Her parents owned a greenhouse nursery and after marrying my father she started working in his greenhouse nursery. Free Apples

Hammarbo stands empty at the moment, so if you want an apple, just walk in and grab one. Snowy version from December of 2012. Apple blooming photo from earlier this month.

What's this then?

Jujja and the archaeologist Roger Wikell were at the cafe in Handen today. They had found this thing at a quarry in Farsta. Looks like some sort of scale. On the scale you can read 9500 9700 9900 and 10100. Bit of a mystery so far what has been used for.

Winter Vs. Autumn

Arriving home yesterday after a chilly Winter promenade (-8C), I decided to shoot a couple of selfies on the snowy lawn where I had taken a few similar snaps back in October. This was the result.

That Old Tree

This was the result of two visits to the old tree on the same day. The left half of this diptych was shot when the sky was grey, just after a short rainfall. The right side of the diptych with the blue sky was shot three hours later when the sun was shining. Click on the photo to see the two original photos in a comment at flickr.

A heavy camera

I was having coffee with Jim at the cafe yesterday when Björn Lundblad arrived. We talked for a bit about his exhibitions . Then he remembered that he had his latest toy in the car, and this is it. A bellows. The Plaubel Makina 670. Never seen that one before. It was heavy, weighing 1,3 kilogramme.

Winter Vs. Summer

Haven't done one of these for a while. This is Hagstugan in Tungelsta. Shot the winter side of the diptych just over a week ago. The summer side is from July of this year. The cottage dates back 300 years.

Nobel Prize Winner Story of the Day

On his way to the Nobel banquet in Stockholm, Chinese poet/author Chen Maiping dropped in for a chat with his barber, Mikael in Västerhaninge. This year's Nobel prize in literature winner, Mo Yan is a very good friend to Maiping, and his wife Anna, who has translated most of Mo Yan's works to Swedish. Mikael got a fine gift from Maiping. A signed and dedicated copy of one of Mo Yan's novels.

Gunilla De luxe

Quite a few photographers in action during the Greaser meet. This is one of them, Gunilla De luxe. She sure is dedicated! Nilla has uploaded lots of photos from this event, and you can see them all at her blog. There are four posts labelled Grand prix Raggarbil. You can even see me in one of the shots as I am shooting a portrait of a Greaser Girl.

Autumn Vs. Spring

Time for another different seasons diptych. This is the Dahlgrengårdens farm house at the Tyresta village in the national park. I shot the autumn photo in October of 2010. The somewhat duller early spring side of the diptych is from my visit last week. The farm house is old. It was moved to this location back in 1750. Before that it was up on a hill a few hundred meters from here. No one lives in this house today and it is part of the national park and anyone can go in for a look around. A few winters ago I did just that when they had a Christmas market here.

One week later

What a difference a week can do. It was only last week that I showed you a photo of the old tree with two cross-country skiers on the path, and it is in fact them you can see on the left side of this diptych. Now most of the snow is gone as you can see on the right hand side. I shot these two photos from a slightly different angle than I would normally do, but still standing on the path, that does a full circle around the Swedish Whitebeam. Winter Vs. Summer

As you probably know I do enjoy going back for another look at different places. It was only in December of last year that I showed you a Different Seasons diptych from the Hammar estate. Back then it was a combination of an unusual winter photo and a misty autumn shot. This time around it is real winter vs. early summer. I shot the snow photo just a few days ago and the green side in May of 2009. Probably a good thing that it wasn't a flag day, that would have made it rather tricky to line up the two photos.

Winter Days

I think that Gråbergsvägen has to be one of the shortest roads in Tungelsta. With two, or if it is three houses. This is one of them. A little horse farm that always looks good on a photo, as proven with this diptych. The blue sky version is from three days ago when we had a very cold day. The right hand side shows the place back in November of last year when the first snow-fall of the season happened. Sadly there were no horses out in the pasture on either of those two visits. But in one of the other houses here you will find the very photogenic Cookie the Peacock.

Winter Vs. Autumn

I took the autumn half of this diptych in early October. The only reason for taking the photo of the tree in Handen was to make a diptych when the first snow came, so here it is. We haven't had any more snow, and from this afternoon it is said to be warmer. The forecast for Monday is a weird one. We can expect something like 10C, that sounds more like spring than mid winter.

To the left is how the tree lined avenue at the 200-year old Hammar estate looks like today. The unused driveway is being fixed. It is supposed to be winter now, but it sure doesn't look like it. To the right how it looked on a misty November day back in 2009. I shot the 2009 photo with the Canon 300d, and the winter photo with the Canon 550d.
