Asphalt Paver

Asphalt Paver
I can't remember how much work has been done do the commuter station in Tungelsta over the last decade, but it is a lot. And I have been trying my best to document that and other rail-road-related work in a photo album called Nynäsbanan, which is the name of the railway line between Stockholm and Nynäshamn. But it now looks like they are finishing up here. Took this photo a few days ago when the workers were busy paving the road in front of the station, and also fixing a new parking area. So if you enjoy construction photos have a look at the Nynäsbanan slideshow.

Tattoo of the day

Tattoo of the day
I'm sure there's an interesting story about the ink job here. But I didn't want to intrude too much. English dude with his Swedish girlfriend at the Lower Lake at the Rudan nature reserve yesterday.

A Recent Drive

Thursday Drive
Took a drive with Hasse and Jujja on Thursday. We made stops at two different castles. It was a hot day so there was also a visit to the kiosk at Årsta Brygga were we tested the ice cream. We then stopped at the tiny hamlet Stadsberga, (canola photo), where Jujja and Hasse discussed this recently made runestone by Kalle Runristare. We also left some books at a bus stop near the beach at Årsta Havsbad before heading out to the Gålö peninsula, and nature reserve, where we checked out the cliffs at Oxnö, and a farmers field where a military jet plane crashed into the ground from 5000 meters back in the 1960s. After that we stopped for lasagne and coffee at the Stegsholm farm. It was a good day.

I'm too sexy for my shirt...

I'm too sexy for my shirt... ...too sexy for my shirt, so sexy it hurts. That song by Right Said Fred came to mind when I spotted this gentleman on his bike earlier in the week. I'm afraid to think about what he might be wearing today as this Saturday is supposed set a few new temperature records, at least if you want to believe the meteorologists, and I really want to do that.

Sit back and relax

Castle Lawn
Just sit back and relax and have a look through the slideshow why don't you. Here are 90 photos from my visit to this years Targa Florio Svecia event. Cool cars. Expensive cars. People. Performers. Posers. Enjoy.

The Model

The Model and the Ferrari Alfa Romeo Pose
The model had a busy day. Her boyfriend had her pose next to a number of cars at the Targa Florio Svecia. I spotted them in action so I decided to grab a few photos of her myself. Here she is posing by a red Ferrari and a black Alfa Romeo.

Arriving in style

Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé Auburn 851 Speedster
There were a few cars at the Targa Florio Svecia that stood out a bit. Both cars belonged to the same guy. And they are both a bit on the expensive side. If you are planning to invest in a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé you need at least $500,000. The second ride is also a bit special. It's the 1935 Auburn 851 Speedster. The girls driving it are the daughters of the guy in the Rolls-Royce.

Morgan Roadster

Morgan Roadster Secured Morgan
Walking back and forth between all the cars parked in front of the old Årsta Castle during the second annual Targa Florio Svecia,I stopped in front of this fine Morgan Roadster a few times. I didn't plan to shoot any bokeh panorama at the car event, but the way the cars were parked, and the fact that I was shooting,(mostly), with the nifty fifty made it impossible not to do shoot one here as I needed good shot of the car.

Summer Candids

Merry Christmas? Photographer Tess Mercedes
I visited the second annual Targa Florio Svecia event on Saturday. A classic car rally. The participants took to the road for around 2.5 hours, or 120 kilometres around Södertörn before arriving to Årsta Castle. I arrived by bicycle of course, but you already knew that. It was a fantastic Summer day. The area around the old castle soon filled up with fun people and cool cars and also a lot of golfers as there's a course at the castle. Here are a few candid snaps to start with. The phone case on that woman's phone says God Jul. That means merry Christmas, go figure. The second photo shows local photographer Kurt Berglind. I can't remember how many times I have met him at different events over the years. Third photo shows the singer Tess Mercedes. She was performing with her band. They are called Doktor Krall and they play a lot of 1950s music. I have seen them here and there over the years. As for Tess, her real name is Therese Myrhed, and I have probably photographed her on at least four occasions. Photos of cool cars and what have you to follow during the week.

Forever Young?

Forever Young?
You will stay young Forever. All you have to do is buy our products. And sell them on to someone else. Hello, anyone, it really works you know. As seen at the deserted Poseidon's Square in Handen on Friday afternoon when most people were trying to get to the beach as Summar had just arrived.

Soppa&Surr

Soppa&Surr
Fun event at the cultural centre in Handen last night. My photos of the old tree were shown as a slideshow as three musical acts performed. Top left photo shows the organizer behind the event, Gunnar Borg during the presentation of my tree project. Third photo top row shows Lasse Forslund in action, he did a version of King's Call by Phil Lynott. He played for half an hour. Second row to the right shows Lasse and the choir performing The Lumberjack Song! Before that a trio played a little Bossanova. That was Hansi Baumgartner, Michael Vinsa and Marianne Something. The last act was a band called Kulmen, I will upload a few photos of them tomorrow. There was soup for the hungry and beer or wine for the thirsty, I was thirsty.

Careful...

Var rädd om gräsmattan
This little blue sign cracks me up every time I see it. It sits on a wall at the industrial area in central Handen. Translated it means something like, don't walk on the lawn, or careful with the lawn. Which is kind of funny as the photo shows the entire lawn. The other sign says no parking.

Ormsta By

Östra Gården
Ormsta is a tiny hamlet, (by in Swedish), with eight households in a rural part of Haninge. The land is today owned by the Swedish Church and the farm land is used by a few of the local farmers. This photo shows what is known as Östra gården". If you speak Swedish you can read an interesting article about Ormsta at haninge.org. I took the photo from a "holme", where in that article the author suggests that the first house was built by the first settler, a man who could have been called Orm. That was back in the Viking Age.

Vroom

2.0 is a soft drink not an engine size AZZKIKR '65 Stang It's that time of the year again. If you have a cool car, use it. As I do sometimes I parked my bike on the wooden bridge that crosses the Gudöbroleden in Handen and lifted the camera towards the cars driving in and out of the big roundabout. Some people drive better than others. There were a few close calls. One guy in a Mercedes nearly hit a bus. A guy in a monster wheel truck used the traffic island just because he could. The cars you see here stood out a bit from the rest. If you have good eyes you can read this on the Pontiac: 2.0 is a soft drink not an engine size. The shiny car had a home made licence plate that read AZZKIKR. Behind the wheel in the Honda NSX Veilside 1991 was Jonas Mårtenson. Last but not least the '65 Stang is of course a classic ride.

Watching the trains go by

Watching the trains go by Please be seated
This was a surprise. Brand new benches and tables along the walkway between Västerhaninge and the Krigslida commuter station. The walkway follows the Nynäsbanan railtrack. You have an industrial area, (Håga), on one side of the rail track and a farmer's field on the other. I remember reading an article about an idea to equip the commuter stations with better lighting, more places to sit and what have you so this must be part of that project. Second photo shot as a Brenizer method photo so as to put a little extra focus on the benches.

An Accident Waiting To Happen

An Accident Waiting To Happen
The construction of the big interchange at Vega in Handen, on Road 73 also known as Nynäsvägen is an accident waiting to happen according to one of the workers. Motorists are driving way too fast here and someone will die soon according to that same worker. I stood on one of the bridges here on Saturday and I would have to agree with the anonymous worker. Road 73 is the motorway going to Stockholm.

Sixteen May Images

Sixteen May Images
Rally car that was speeding at Nedersta yesterday. It says C Bäck on it, so maybe he was the one driving it. The happy bikini girls at Rudan waving to the photographer. Motorcycle passing the cafe, he could be heard from a long way away. Horse at the Tyresta national park farm. Woman on a yellow bike at Lillcentrum in Handen. Graffiti hart at an underpass near the power plant in Jordbro. Squirrel up a tree at home. Von Steinhausen wearing bike shorts ready for coffee at the cafe. Girl on a longboard talking on her smartphone. Roundabout tulips in Västerhaninge. Photogenic woman that walks past the cafe most days. Macro snap. It says jewellery on the package, but it was only a bit of plastic! Three grown-ups and a baby. La Luna. Graffiti work.

That Old Tree

That Old Tree Mössa
After a few days with Arctic winds the weather improved a bit yesterday. It was maybe 5C when I arrived to the old tree. And no snow, or rain. The meteorologists are saying that it will get warmer now so I'm hoping that this was the last day this cold Spring that I needed to wear my beanie.

Two Years Behind Schedule

Two Years Behind Schedule
The huge Haningeterrassen project in central Handen is under way since around two years. But it is already two years behind schedule! Next to this 18 storey apartment building there will be a new underground bus terminal that was supposed to be finished thus Summer, but work on that project have just gotten under way. That means a lot of running and walking for the stressed commuters going to and from the commuter station as the bus stops have been moved further away from the commuter station. And they are not very happy about that as you could read in the local paper this week. www.haningeterrassen.se/

This just in

Weather Update Spring&Winter
Weather update. From the Summer day last Friday to a week with Arctic wind. It snowed on and off yesterday. In between that we had a blue sky with warming sunshine,(5C), for a minute or two, then the sky darkened for an hour and then it snowed again. One or two new record for cold weather is all we need.

Scott Genius

Scott Genius
One of the regulars at Malmens konditori is Rolf von Steinhausen who lives just across the road from said cafe. He is a real tough guy, in his early sixties now. Used to drive motorcycles for a few decades. Also a keen mountain bike cyclist who have competed,(and won), in world championships. Had an accident a couple of years ago. Injured himself real badly. Took some time for the doctors to figure everything out. Last year he got a brand new knee. It was a painful affair, despise the drugs and we heard all about it. But now he is back in the game again. This is his latest bike, a Scott Genius. Rolf loves to climb steep hills, and he was out on a few tough rides last week when the weather was great, today it snowed this morning. I shot this as a bokeh panorama so it is eight photos stitched together. Shot with the full frame canon using the nifty fifty lens.

One whisky please

Port Ellen
Lets say that you are thirsty for a glass of whisky. And I mean the really good stuff. Which you don't have any at home. So you pop over to Jujja for a glass at his place. If that ever happens, whatever you do don't open this bottle. At least not if you don't want to pay for it. One bottle of this whisky will set you back some serious money, or at least £3,750.

One Suicide Is Too Many

Don't do it One Suicide Is Too Many
They are changing the fence along the Nynäsbanan railway line after one too many suicides. I took these two photos between the Krigslida and the Västerhaninge stations. After removing the old fence they put this one up and went home. I should of course have waited a few minutes and taken the photo as the commuter passed by, but there's always tomorrow. I hope no one decides to use this new "shortcut" over the weekend.

Swedish Bikini Team

Swedish Bikini Team
It must be Summer already. I biked past these two bikini babes at Nedre Rudasjön in Handen yesterday. I was so surprised to see them there that I turned around and asked them if it was okay if I snapped a few photos of them from the next pier. I told them to wave to me, which they did, and then they had a long laugh, so I probably made their day! This was the warmest day of the year so far, but I don't want to tell you how warm it was because I don't want Grace to start laughing as well.

Cherry Blossom

Cherry Blossom
If the meteorologists are right this Friday will be the warmest day of the year, so far. It's been a warm few days, at least in the sun and out of the wind. A friend that headed out for a long and hard mountain bike run two days ago wearing bike shorts and a t-shirt told me yesterday that he didn't think he would make it home alive that's how cold it got in the shade of the forest. I try to shoot at least one Cherry Blossom photo each year and here is the 2017 version. Taken at Eskilsvägen in Handen.

Fluffy Clouds

Fluffy Clouds
Fluffy clouds over Christina's place at Välsta in Tungelsta. It is slowly getting warmer, I have been able to sit outside at my favorite cafe enjoying coffee and chat and listening to different Spring reports. I think it will be Summer before you know it!

Yarn Bombing

Yarn Bombing
Fences are never much fun, always trying their best to keep people in or out. But they can be fun to photograph and I have a whole set at flickr with such photos. I spotted this street at fence in Västerhaninge a while back.

Going Macro in May

Nyckelpiga Flocktulpan
May arrived with warmer weather. Much appreciated. By both men and beetles. I am currently refurbishing the living room so I don't have many new photos to show you but I did take these two macro photos yesterday afternoon when I was done with the days paint job. The ladybird gladly posed for me before flying off. The flower is a "Flocktulpan". It grows wild in Kyrgyzstan something I didn't know before Googling the flower to see what it was.

Hungry?

High Cholesterol Friday
Theme Day. Let's eat. This was my dinner a while back. I even tried to get one of those internet memes going by creating a twitter tag namely #highcholesterolfriday but it didn't
