Vinterfrost

Believe it or not, but I took out the eBike yesterday. Sure was a chilly ride, but quite short, just 12 kilometers. The bike path was cleared from snow and ice, which was nice. Frost everywhere after a few freezing days with -15C, which I figured would make for great views. Top photo shows a little skogsdunge at Stav. Next to a very modern pre-school that sits out on an open field, and you can see it on the second photo. Oh, and the black building up on the hill is new, and I believe that a woman that I photographed when she was still a teenager lives there today with her family.

Just in time

The moose hunting season gets under way here today. So I was safe on the day earlier in the week when I took these Autumn photos at Husby, Ormsta, Fors, Berga, Stav and Nedersta. From today, it is not safe to just wander around on the forests as I often do. Oh and if you look closely, you can see a hunting blind in the top photo.

Dandelion Season

The middle of May. Everything is green again, and yellow even! Here are four photos from Stav and Välsta,(close to the old tree), in Tungelsta.

Ho ho ho?

Not a very magical Christmas perhaps, without the snow, but my sources say that we will get some snow later today. If that happens I will go back to Tette's place along Stavsvägen in Tungelsta for a Winter Wonderland photo with my crystal ball.

I See You

From a distance I noticed a moose family, so I jumped off my bike and tried to walk a little closer without scaring away the wildlife, as they were enjoying some grass on a field. They obviously knew that I was coming so when I came around the bend they were already at a safe distance at the edge of the forest.

Ljusgranar

Swedish word of the day. Ljusgranar. You can buy these at Flaggstångsspecialisten at Stav in Tungelsta. There are zero streetlights here so these Christmas light trees really stand out in the dark.

Is it Christmas yet?

Here is the after photo, and the answer to the question would be a yes, at least if you ask Tette Lindbergh and her family at Stav in Tungelsta. They have been doing this for a few years now. There are no street lights on this road so when it gets dark it gets really dark. The next two neighbors are also in on the fun, and I read a recent Facebook post where some of the locals have a competition going, the winner gets a few bottles of the good stuff apparently.

The before photo

I noticed a Facebook post in the Tungelsta group earlier this week. From Tette. She lives in the gray house. She promptly informed anyone who wanted to know that she would turn on the Christmas lights today. So I decided to take a before photo.

Written in stone

This is a Viking Era runestone at Stav. The inscription reads Auda raeisti staein at Harald, boanda sinn, ok Fastlaug at fadur sinn. In English Oda raised this stone in memory of Harald her husband, and Fastlög to her father. The stone was discovered by farm workers back in 1885. Today it stands on the old gravel road at the Stav village in Tungelsta. I took the photo on my way home a couple of days ago.

Hunting Blind

It is moose hunting season here. So you need to be really careful if you are out walking in a forest. This hunting blind can be found at Stav where I met a moose just a couple of weeks ago.

Cracked Ice

Interesting weather lately. Snow one day. Followed by a few days with warmer weather melting the snow. Then a couple of days with a lot of rain so that it was flooding all over. That was followed by a cold day, hence all the cracked ice here at a field at Stav in Tungelsta.

Fairybell®

The company that sells these Christmas lights has a really long name. Flaggstångsspecialisten. I took this photo at Stav in Tungelsta the other day for my project 100 Days Of Darkness.

A good workout

It was a fine Autumn day for it. Roller skier and cyclist along Stavsvägen in Tungelsta. Same place as yesterdays photo.

Buttercup Field

The ever changing Summer colors. A field at Stav in Tungelsta filled with blooming buttercups, or smörblommor as we like to call them. In the background the new houses at Kolonilottsvägen in Lillgården. This is the same field where the bonfire that never was stood back in early May.

Winter at Stav

From a recent Winter promenade. This is a preschool called Lilla lillgården. Located on a field at Stav in Tungelsta.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

The Lindbergh family at Stav in Tungelsta seems to have fixed the long-time problem with the lack of street lights along the very dark and narrow Stavsvägen, at least for one month of the year. Tette told me that they have spent around 50 000SEK on Christmas lights over the last four years. And they are not done yet. A LED rain-deer will appear on the roof soon, and a big Santa is of course also on the way. Took this handheld with the zoom lens. Might go back with a tripod and a wide-angle lens in a day or three.

Just follow the sunflowers

Thousands of sunflowers blooming on a field near Stav in Tungelsta. Nothing special about that, but there's a note by the side of the field. It's from the students at the Berga agricultural college informing us that they planted the flowers for all the bees and insects, and if you want a flower go ahead and pick one, but they would appreciate if you donated 10SEK for every flower to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Winter Leaf

I found some snow on Friday. In a forest at Stav in Tungelsta. Up on a hill. I followed the deer tracks hoping to see some wildlife but they were long gone. So I had to make do with what I could find and that was this leaf.

Abandoned Farm House

Rune Carlsson grew up in this now abandoned little house at Stav in Tungelsta with his brothers and parents. He was a very good friend to my father. He was always very happy when you saw him. Growing up he learned to play the accordion, and he would often play at the local folkparks In Haninge. Rune passed away a couple of weeks ago.

A Tired Cyclist

Note to self. Never go for a bike ride during a storm. That's what I did yesterday. It was a very tough workout so when I rode down this straight at Stav in Tungelsta I didnt have the strength to pedal, so I stopped for a photo.
