Thai Street Food Festival

CH Thai Street Ordningsvakt Pik Thai Grythyttan Red and Yellow
Every Summer, there is a two-day Thai Street Food festival at Kungsträdgården in Stockholm. Which I never remember, mostly because I am more of an Italian cuisine type of guy. Anywho, I was in the area, it was way too early, but I decided to walk in for a look. Since last year's terror scare in Sweden, there is often a no bag policy at these events, but here they just took a quick look before letting me in. A few people were eating and drinking, a water delivery dude arrived, and the two security guards looked bored. But on Flickr I heard from my Aussie contact Brian that the security guy to the left in my photo had to remove a drunk man that was stripping down naked later in the day while in front of the big stage, the same stage where Janine sang Country Road in yesterday's post.

Country road, take me home

Country road, take me home
Country, blues and rock´n´roll. Janine Nyman performing at CBR Stockholm a festival held at Kungsträdgården earlier this month. I walked around the park while she played a few songs. Not just country, and not just her own music.

No change without changing

Climate change
No Greta Thunberg outside the Government building last Friday. She was in Melle, in France protesting against the construction of huge water reservoirs for irrigation, but I did get a photo of this young woman protesting with her sign instead.

Sixteen recent street scenes

Tihi Stureplan The lazy approach Mixed reactions Gone shopping Biblioteksgatan Oh, really Taking the humans for a walk Övergångsställe Tehuset Shop til you drop She's on the phone Svampen Stureplan Dresscode Norrmalmstorg
Sixteen recent street scenes, again. From Biblioteksgatan. Stureplan. Skeppsbrokajen. The gold bridge. Hamngatan. Kungsträdgården. Norrmalmstorg. Always fun with the different reactions from the people noticing the camera. Some are happy. Others more reserved. Some don't like it at all. Others looks surprised. And of course quite a few people are not aware of the guy with the big canon.

KB

KB
Detail from a classic Stockholm building at Smålandsgatan. Built in 1899, designed by Ludvig Peterson. He was inspired by Venetian architecture. The property was owned by a society of famous artists at the time. KB was short for Konstnärernas buffet. The artist's buffet. Also known as Konstnärsbaren. At first, they served only sandwiches, but when the artists got bored with that, they decided to open a real restaurant. Ten well known painters helped out with the interior design. One of them Isaac Grünewald. Owners have come and gone. Today, part of a group that operates five well-known eateries around Stockholm.

Canola field

The stable Rapsblomma Canola field Rapsfält Blåklint Skogsdunge Josefin
I have been keeping an eye on this canola field, rapsfält in Swedish, over the last week or so. I can see it from two roads I use every week while out on the bike. So, after a July visit to the old tree, I continued down the horse path towards the blooming field. I tried a few different approaches. The first photo is a four photo panorama, snapped with the Canon 77D, using the 70-300mm lens. Next, a close-up of a flower, using the same camera and lens. The next two are both panoramic images. But cropped differently. I stepped down in a ditch for the fifth photo, where I focused on the "blåklint". Next, more focus on the "skogsdunge". We finish with a bonus shot. Josefin riding by at full speed. I had parked my bike next to the path she used, so she must have ridden around Klems kulle, which I have showed you before, and you have also met Josefin here, many years ago.

The big chair

Available seating
These giant chairs are always fun. He looked quite comfy sitting there, doomscrolling. As seen at Högalid on Södermalm a few days ago. I have passed by here a few times this Summer hoping to see someone sitting on the giant chair, and now it finally happened.

Ship ahoy

Shell GT Mercury Kapitan Borchardt Sailors Ship ahoy Michaela Rose Skipperi
One of the great things about Stockholm is that the city is built on islands, so there's water everywhere. And boats, big and small. You can take ferries to and from many different places. There are quite a few commuter boats that you can use for "free" if you have the travel card. This time of the year there's always a cruise ship or two here. The first photo shows a vintage motorboat passing by City Hall out on the Riddarjärden ay. Next two photos of a Polish schoolship docked at Skeppsbrokajen. Then, one of the cruise ships. The Europe 2. Then the Michaela Rose visiting from Southampton. The Skipperi is a rental service for boats that is quite popular. I took that photo high up at Monteliusvägen on Södermalm.

Come as you are!

Come as you are!
Come as you are! Kom som du är! By Astrid Göransson. Celebrating 100 years of democracy in Sweden. The five people carried on the plate by two modern day women are Kerstin Hesselgren, Elisabeth Tamm, Nelly Thüring, Bertha Wellin and Agda Östlund. The first female members of Parliament. They became MPs in January 1922. The two women are walking on a path to the future, and towards the Parliament building. Very symbolic it is.

Sixteen recent photos

The artist Here come the girls Sony Fika to go Kamera Jerusalem kebab Köpmantorget What are we looking at? In the shade Pennywise Under kastanjen Grillska huset Just checking And in here... Grändens Café En kokt korv med bröd, tack
Sixteen recent photos. Usually when I write that, I have made another collage. But this time it is sixteen photos from a stroll in the old town. Artist painting the famous buildings at Stortorget. Girls in an alleyway. Asian photographer with a unique method. Aim left, look right, press the button. Military eating and walking with his parents. Cool camera. Jerusalem kebab, an old town classic. Smart phoning at Köpmanstorget. More military with family members. In the shade at Stortorget. Scary clown. Under kastanjen, a popular restaurant. Fika at Grillska huset. More smart phoning. Tour guide. Another alleyway. And we end with a hot dog buyer because all this walking is making me hungry.
