The old tree in late October. All the leaves are gone, and with just the berries left this was an unusual color of the Swedish Whitebeam. Down the path near Klems Kulle a man is walking his dog.
Boardwalk at the Upper Lake (Övre Rudasjön), at the Rudan nature reserve in Handen. There's a bench along the boardwalk where you often can spot me enjoying something to eat or just some sunshine.
I haven't done one of these for a while. Different Seasons. The left side shows the magnificent tree in late September when we still had Summer weather. The right side is from this week.
Being a local I know a few things about this scene other than that it shows two people walking down a road. The road is Nynäsvägen. Parts of it date back to the Viking era. A new road opened for traffic a few years ago so no one except the locals uses this road these days. It is close to Berga where you will find the agricultural college, and the two teenage boys are students there, so possibly they are two future farmers. The bus service from Berga to Västerhaninge isn't all that great so the kids will often walk instead of waiting for the bus.
The old drying barn, (known as a torklada), at Fridhem in Krigslida. For many years there was a laundry here. This barn was built by timber from the USA. Back in the 1920s cars imported from North America were transported in wooden containers. Anyone who wanted could get the timber from the containers and the buildings seen here were built with that wood.
Except for that one bird. Heading south for the Winter. These were just a few of them. Must have been at least a thousand birds in all. Spotted at Lillgåren earlier in the week.
The plan on this day was to take the bike to the National Park and from there take a longish Thursday Walk around one of the lakes at Tyresta. A flat tire just a few kilometers from home put a stop to that idea. Instead, I opted for my usual walk at Välsta, although it's not much fun walking with a bike, but there you go. Anywho, here are four photos from my bike walk last Thursday.
Two Autumn views of the commuter station, and the old stationhouse in Tungelsta. Photographed from the Lillgården side and from the bridge that connects Stav with Tungelsta.
A few images from Östnora. This was the beach I visited a lot as a kid and as a teenager. As kids, we took the bus here during the Summer break. Later in life, we had a few BBQ-evenings here as teenagers. There's a big marina here. And a popular camping site. The beach itself isn't all that much to see, but it is still popular with young families. The bay is Horsfjärden, made famous back during the cold war when the military chased "Russian Submarines" here. Another smaller bay is Åmunsfjärden.
An Autumn visit to the lower lake at the Rudan nature reserve. It rained a little but nothing too serious. I asked the woman in the third photo if she was there fishing as she sat down by the water where the anglers usually hang, but she told me that she was just enjoying nature.
