Cuckoo Flower

Sköna maj
Ängsbrämsa blooming everywhere at the Woodland Cemetery this week. I could probably have walked around here for several hours only photographing that particular plant, but I didn't because that would have been a bit cuckoo.

Monteliusvägen

Monteliusvägen The Knights' Islet What is that over there? Gamla stan Kullerstensgata Sköna maj Park entrance Olle Adolphson
A few times every year I park my bike at Mariatorget, a square on Södermalm and from there I walk up the cobblestone street to the lookout point that is Monteliusvägen at Mariaberget. I never get bored with the views over the Riddarholmen bay, the knight's islet and the old town. An extra bonus in May is of course all the greenery. And it is always fun to get some visiting tourists and locals in the photos. The bust shows Olle Adolphson in the park with his name.

The Path of Seven Wells

Skogskyrkogården
Most Swedish people's favorite time of the year is the month of May. We call it Sköna Maj. May the beautiful. Because after the long, cold and very dark Winter everything turns green again. Like here at the Woodland Cemetery, along the path of seven wells. I often walk up to the top of the Meditation Hill, Almhöjden in Swedish. A good place to recharge the batteries with a smoothie before cycling on.

A first bunch of photos from the Cherry Blossom mania, Hanami, at The King's Garden in central Stockholm. Always a spectacle. The trees were a gift from the Japanese Emperor Akihito, and were planted here in 1998.

That is what it says on this headstone that I photographed at Skogskyrkogården a couple of days ago.

I parked the bike at The Royal Dramatic Theatre and walked up Nybrogatan, a pedestrian street, to Östermalmstorg, while snapping away left, right and straight ahead. It was a fine Spring day in Stockholm. Lots of people out in the sunshine.

A sign of Spring

Yellow Crocus White Crocus
A chilly morning today. -2C. But it is supposed to get up to 10C in a few hours time. Been out on the bike three times now. And arriving home both on Friday and Sunday I noticed the first croci of the year on the lawn outside the house. But I was too tired to first go in, find the other Canon camera and attach the macro lens to it, but I did so yesterday afternoon. So here are my first real Spring photos of 2026.

Ten Spring snaps from the new square

Nice mittens Södermalmstorg Time for a cup of coffee Taking a breather Tunnelbanetåg The observer Tourists hard at work Under construction Three men and a dog Getting dressed
Ten photos from the new square Södermalmstorg, near Slussen at Södermalm in Stockholm. It opened for the public last year, still some construction work going on, seen here the work on the new bicycle bridge. This is a popular place now. Lots of tourist here, resting, enjoying something to eat and drink in the Spring sunshine. Or just watching and filming the views towards the old town.
