A tractor you say

Today this vehicle is categorized as an A-traktor. But ask anyone and they will tell you that it is, in fact, an EPA-traktor. I guess that didn't help you much? Spotted it parked near the commuter station in Tungelsta.

Customized Volvo Amazon

This cool car, a 1962 Volvo Amazon, heavily customized was parked outside my favorite cafe last week. I have seen it around many times before but never been able to photograph it. It belongs to the Slusk, Jesse.

Volvo Laplander

Spotted this old Volvo Laplander at a filling station in Handen recently. I asked the owner, who comes from Sorunda if it was his Summer ride. Nope, I drive this year round was the answer. Perfectly understandable of course. And he told me that he would take part in an event at TerrängCamp Ekeby next weekend, that's near me so maybe I should go there for a few fun shots.

Eddie Lives!

Two photos of the same Volvo 745 from 1990. Now running as an EPA-tractor, which means that you can drive it when you are sixteen years old. I'm guessing that the kid that drives this epa-traktor is a big fan of the late Eddie Meduza, we don't have to go in to why I know that, but it has do to with what's written on the windshield.

Hydraulic Excavator

With nothing better to do I stopped on the newish Stavs road in Tungelsta to take a Brenizer method photo of this hydraulic excavator from Volvo. Workers are busy here preparing for one of two new roundabouts that will soon be in use. Part of the building site I showed you yesterday.

Volvus Raggisus

Look what I found! Your typical "Volvoraggare" (Volvus Raggisus. A very Swedish subculture of the even more Swedish subculture Raggare that I have shown you here many times before). Driving his pimped car with the hot girlfriend riding shotgun. Oh, and I'm pretty sure they noticed me.

The Red Amazon

You know that it is Summer when Gerry takes out his convertible for a spin. The Volvo Amazon that he has rebuilt himself turned fifty years old recently. When we met this time Gerry was getting ready to drive it to the vehicle inspection.This is a Brenizer method photo. Umpteen photos shot with the 85mm lens at f/1.8. I aimed at the right head light turned off auto focus and started shooting.

The Pink Amazon

Twice this week I have met this cute Amazon. And twice I have asked her for a photo. She was very shy at first and blushed a bit when I approached her. I complimented her on her eyelashes and I think that did the trick, because she gladly posed for the photographer on both occasions. I told her that she could expect to see the photos on The International Women's Day. I used the Brenizer method for the first and the last photo here.

Pinktastic

If you mix red and white the result is called pink. I can't say that it is one of my favorite colors, but once in a while I will see something pink that stands out a bit, and when that happens I usually stop for a photo and you can see the result in the slideshow.

Blue Amazon

I tried my luck at the O Caritas Car/Moped/Scooter Shooting Technique the other day. Using the nifty fifty I took eight auto focus photos at f1.8 of this blue Amazon, which I then rather unsuccessfully tried to stitch together. Restitched with only four shots, and that turned out OK, although I had to fix the licence plate. Patrick had a look at the photo and told me a bit more of his technique.

You Were Just Overtaken By A Girl

That's what it says on the sticker on this very girly Volvo that I spotted in Västerhaninge a couple of days ago.

A truck on the railtrack

I heard on the radio just now that there was no commuter trains running between Nynäshamn and Västerhaninge. This is probably one reason. A Volvo truck from Infranord at the Krigslida level crossing on the Nynäsbanan railtrack. I had to wait for several minutes as two of the workers tried to manually lift the barriers. There are lots of work going on here now as a new railtrack is being built between Tungelsta and Västerhaninge.

Taxi!

It's that time of the year again, when all the classic cars returns to the roads after spending the long winter in a warm garage. I was waiting at a railway x-ing last week when Bror Persson drove up next to me. His Volvo PV (known here as a Sugga), from 1951 looks to be in mint condition. Back in the day it used to be a taxi in Stockholm, and you can still see the Ledig (Available), sign on the wind shield. Bror is a collector of old cars, and is a member of several car clubs. One of them the Swedish Volvo PV Club. We talked for a bit as we waited for the commuter to pass by, and I had time to try and shoot a self portrait in one of the reflective hub-caps.

In True Swedish Spirit

There were a few Swedish cars at the Retrorun meet that I visited on Sunday, and in true nationalistic spirit I had to find my favorite among them. And after an hour or so I spotted this very blue Volvo Duett with the two Swedish flags and my search was over. It's been worked over a bit and is now a very different looking convertible. One detail that I liked was the blue clock. To see that you may need to have a look at the original size.

Stranger #48

After looking at all the cars at the classic car meet, I decided to pick the coolest car and ask the owner to participate in the 100 Strangers Project. This is Björn Virving from Västerås. His car is unique. It's the worlds only Volvo Vera. He built it himself some ten years ago. Originally it was a Volvo 162. Over a period of 18 months he figured the work took him around 1200 hours! This was actually his first classic car meet. He told me that his wife picked the name Vera. Björn has a summerhouse at Dalarö in Haninge and as the meet ended all the cars drove down to Dalarö. A few years ago Björn and his wife drove down to Spain with the Vera. From Barcelona they took the ferry over to Mallorca, which to me sounds like a great holiday. Talk about travelling in style! This is my 48th photo for the 100 Strangers project. You can see the rest of my strangers in my Set.

This used to be a Volvo

I live close to a school. Two weeks ago I woke up in the middle of the night by shouting and laughter. The next morning I walked over to the school gymnasium to have a look. Found a stolen Volvo 850. It's been reported to the police. They have notified the owner. He has been told to have the wreck removed. That hasn't happen. By now all the local kids have been there having a go at destroying the car. Here's two photos to show you their progress. I made a set with photos, but I'm hoping this will be the last. Friday evening a police car drove up. They stayed for ten minutes. But the car is still there.

Summer Driving

This is a 1964 Amazon. Volvo never made a convertible from the Amazon so Gerry customized it back in 1990. It has been featured in a swedish magazine, Bilsport a few years ago. He only drives it in the summer time of course. I passed by his garage as he was leaving and stopped and asked if I could take a few photos. He gladly approved and as the car lover he is, then told me everything about it and if I hadnt stopped him he would still be talking...
