A misty morning at Mosebacke

Af Chapman November mist Lokomotiv Misty morning Dimma Mosebacke
Six photos taken from Mosebacke, high up on Södermalm one recent misty morning. In the first photo, you can see Af Chapman. Today a hostel, moored at Skeppsholmen. Next, Kastellholmen. With the amusement park Gröna Lund on Djurgården in the background. In the third photo, I focused on the cupola on the Sjömansinstitutet building at Slussen. Originally used by a train company that had a station in that building, hence the weather vane. One hundred years ago, a famous artist couple had their studio at the top floor in that building. In the fourth photo, one of the Djurgården ferries crossing Saltsjön. Next, the Nordic museum at Djurgården. We finish with a few colorful lightbulbs.

That Old Tree

That Old Tree Ice and mist
We had two days with a bit of mist earlier in the week, so I had to pay the old tree another visit. On my way there, I met a woman out walking her dog. She warned me about the icy path and asked if I was wearing cleats, so I showed her my Icebug boots before walking on.

That Old Tree

That Old Tree
The old tree at Välsta. Photo taken yesterday. A few people around walking their dogs. Nice to be out walking again. I have been in bed with a fever since Friday afternoon.

The Woodland Cemetery

The Woodland Cemetery
This was my last photo on that misty day, a few days ago now. Cycling home, I stopped at the Woodland Cemetery as I always do. This is the big granite cross. Designed by the agnostic architect Gunnar Asplund in 1939. If you walk into the cemetery, you follow the stony path towards where I was standing, shooting this. If you do that, you will have three chapels to your left. The pond will be just to the right, and if you turn just a little bit more, you can choose to walk up to the Meditation Hill, that I have shown you a few times.

Look at that view!

Look at that view!
This is a popular lookout point at Åsöberget, a hill on Södermalm in Stockholm. There are three benches here, but I cropped out one of them for artistic reasons. The last two times I was here, I remember eavesdropping on conversations as I sat down for a look at the view and for a bite to eat. Nothing like that happened on this occasion, as I was on my own. Or maybe there was someone else there, lurking in the fog. Who knows?

Monday

Monday
Cemetery weather today. A lot of fog all day. And quite icy on the path here. My parents rest here, as does my grandparents on both sides of the family.

That Old Tree

That Old Tree
It rained as I cycled home from Stockholm after a visit to the Woodland Cemetery. I was soaking wet after just a few minutes. It is a 27 km ride to the old tree from where I started, so it wasn't all fun. As I parked the bike on the path over an hour later, the rain finally stopped. This is my 649th photo of the Swedish Whitebeam, btw.

The Medieval Church

The Medieval Church
I am not someone who will visit a church anytime soon. But this is the cemetery where most of my family rests, so I do visit, with camera, every now and then. This is the Medieval church in Västerhaninge, the oldest part are around 800 years old. It was hit by lighning once and I guess that will happen once every 800 years or so. You have met the pretty priest, Sara, that works here a couple of times. This time I took a walk around the cemetery because of the mist.

Two bridges

Weather Report Bron
Two more mist photos. Both showing pedestrian bridges along Nederstaleden, (a straight), in Västerhaninge. It was one of those days, really. Mist, mist and more mist. The first bridge is close to the commuter station and is mostly used by people going to and from the station, and the shopping center. The second bridge is a few hundred meters to the soutn and it is new. Well, not really, but as I remember photographing it when it was being constructed it counts as new in my head. From where I shot it, it will take you first to the pet cemetery, in a birch forest, and then to the Håga industrial park. But before you get to the industries you will walk by a place where I shoot Spring flowers most every year.

Moose in the mist

Moose in the mist
Cycling home along the bike path that follows the railway track on one side, and a couple of fields belonging to the Nedersta farm on the opposite side, the mist rolled in. Standing on one field close to the walkway was this moose which made for a good photo-op.

Winter Mist

Tree in Mist
I call this photo Tree in Mist over at flickr. Shot this one earlier in the week on a very foggy day. Once in a while I try to shoot the Swedish Whitebeam from a different angle and this was one of those times.

Foggy Day

Foggy Day
The fog rolled this afternoon after last nights rain. Not too cold, a few degrees above zero. Stopped for a photo of the colorful row houses at Lillgården in Tungelsta. Read somewhere that they were up for a second architectural award.
