Moo!

Garden art at it's best. Could be hard to outclass this. Photographed in Krigslida a few days ago. Second photo shot while cycling to Nynäshamn last week on what was a fantastic Autumn day. The cows were enjoying the day in the birch forest at Björsta.

Kardemummabulle

We celebrate a very important day today. Cinnamon Roll Day. But it is very different this year. First of all, this is a cardamom bun, second I am usually at the cafe, but it is closed on Sundays, and then it is, of course, the whole Covid-19 pandemic so I am celebrating at home in front of the TV watching Swiatek humiliate Halep in straight sets at Roland Garros.

Skogens Konung

Posing moose. Met this moose a couple of days ago near Stav in Tungelsta. It eyed me for a while before disappearing into the little forest. Oh, and if you don't speak the local lingo, Skogens konung means the King of the Forest.

Autumn Bike Ride

A group of cyclists from Fredrikshof out riding in the Summer-like Autumn weather. I met them on my way home last Sunday afternoon.

Picknickers at Rudan

Theme Day at City Daily Photo. Your response to Covid-19. I guess I was a little suprised spotting this group of people having a picnic in the superb Autumn sunshine at the Upper Lake at the Rudan nature reserve a couple of warm days ago, although I can't blame them.

Hammerstahus

Anyone good with a chainsaw? The Hammersta castle was built by the Knight Eringisle Nilsson d.ä 800 years ago. The castle was abandoned after just 100 years. Back when it was built it was surrounded by water on all four sides. Today the old ruin sits on a field. I have shown it to you before once or twice, I snapped these photos a few days ago. This is a nature reserve so there are rules as to what you can and can not do. I would like to remove the dead trees. I have asked the Skärgårdsstiftelsen, The Archipelago Foundation about that and they told me that they would tro to fix it this Autumn.

Low Autumn Sun

This is Östnora. This is a very familiar place to me. These days I don't come here very often, and when I do it is only to take photos. But growing up this was the beach everyone visited. During Summer break I would often take the beach bus to Östnora. The bus picked up kids at a few different places in Haninge and we then spent most of the day at the beach. That was back in the 1970s.

Klövberget

My plan was to take the bike to the Brevik peninsula in Tyresö. My guess was that it would have taken me around two hours to get there on my bicycle. In the end, I decided to go with a friend so we took his car. And I'm very happy with that decision because this was a very hilly peninsula, never seen anything like it before this close to Stockholm. Our goal was to visit a newish nature reserve at Klövberget. Even with the help of Google Maps on my smartphone, it took us a few wrong turns before we finally got to the nature reserve. There is a big cave here but we decided that the climb to the top would be enough on this first visit. To get there you climb a wooden staircase. My buddy Hasse did a good job balancing the two coffees to go for all the 150 or so steps. The weather was as spectacular as the view over Noret, the bay, Tyresö Palace, and Notholmen. I had to be a little careful as I made my way around the steep cliffs as the wind picked up a bit during our visit. We stayed for maybe 45 minutes. We were both very impressed with the view and decided on the spot to check out a few more places in the are in the future.

Ripples

I read up about a place last week. I had seen it from a distance a number of times but knew nothing about it. So I called a friend and asked him if he had ever been there. He had never heard about it. So we decided to check it out. It turned out to be a newish nature reserve. I snapped this photo at the top of the Klövberget hill a few days ago, and I will show you the rest of my photos from there tomorrow.

Swedish word of the day. Liggcykel. Recumbent bicycle. Met this happy chap on my way to Nynäshamn earlier in the week.

Body Language

Back at the Banana square in Nynäshamn. No drone photo just yet. I shot this candid scene earlier in the week. Two women sitting on the bench in a similar position. Pretty sure they both noticed me as I shot several photos around the interesting square. Autumn is everywhere now.

Bobäcken

Five photos from my recent hike at Häringe. I snapped these views after my visit to the lookout point. I met the wanderer near the Eknäs farm. The cottage on the second photo is called Eknästorp. There are many majestic oaks in this nature reserve. The fourth photo shows the property Häringe Bobäcken.The bridge took me over Bobäcken into an area very popular with bird watchers.

The view from the lookout point

A few photos from the top of the hill at Häringenäs, part of the Häringe-Hammersta nature reserve. I arrived at the lookout point after a bike ride around the nature reserve and a 500 meter hike to the top from the path below. It was a fantastic Autumn day. Warm and sunny. It was just me up there, not counting the circling birds. I sat down at one of the benches and enjoyed my lunch. I could hear laughter from somewhere and half an hour later as I made my way down I met a group of people on their way up. What you can see here are a couple of islands including Muskö, Herrö and Yxlö in the Haninge and Nynäshamn archipelago. The two Super-post Panamax cranes are located at the brand new port in Nynäshamn.

Naturum

A naturum is a visitor center with activities and exhibitions, located at several of Sweden’s national parks and nature reserves. This is the naturum at the Tyresta National Park. Snapped this one earlier in the week. www.swedishepa.se/Enjoying-nature/Protected-areas/Naturum/
