Landmark
Theme Day at City Daily Photo. Landmark. I guess it can only be one of the castles in Haninge so I picked Häringe. The castle has a long history. Previous owners include a Swedish King and a few industrialists. There are remains here from a Millennium ago when the Viking Sote supposedly lived here but today's castle dates back to 1657. Many celebrities have stayed here, among them Greta Garbo, Elisabeth Taylor and Josephine Baker. One of the owners, Torsten Kreuger had a tunnel built back in the 1930s so that Miss Garbo shouldn't have to walk in the rain when she left her room in the Sea Wing and headed for the main building. That was nice of him I think. Today this is a hotel, and it is actually for sale at the moment so if you have some money to spend...

It is beautiful, full of history. I think we should start a campaign among the bloggers so that we could buy and use this hotel, City Daily Photos Hotel!
Are they antlers on the right? And rifles on the left? And are they meant to aligh?
Oh, ugh ...
However, Steffi, the image is beautifully lit.
All in all Julie there are 98 hunting trophies on the first floor!
Oh, dear. How very sad. 98 ... *shakes her head*
Beautiful entrance, worthy of a landmark!
Let's hope the next owner(s) will take good care of it.
... and quite a long hunting history too, I see.
An impressive building with a very interesting story...
That is a very old landmark building! If I had a few extra dollars, I would buy it.
The rich colours of that carpet really draws my eyes.
Looks like a classic place.
Quite impressive. I agree with William, nice stair runner.
I will have to check my bank account, but a little castle would be a nice summer home. ;-)
Lovely stairway - not so sure about the trophies though. ;-)
Fascinating and beautiful.
It looks more Spanish to Swedish to me, but then the closest I've come to seeing Sweden was from the ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo. So what do I know.
beautiful!
The antlers and rifles might deter some squeamish folks. I admit that I am not a fan of hunting, so I would prefer a different decor.
Beautiful detailed photo of this historic castle!
Loved the Garbo/tunnel story! :-)
