This way to the terrace

Walk up these stairs to get to Sergelterrassen. Been meaning to do that for a while, yet to happen though. Some nice places to eat and drink up there. And a weekly market, well every two weeks. Happenings, and more. Might even be a good view to photograph.

Take the stairs

This is Rackarbacken. The stairs will give you a good workout if you have to climb them. They will take you from Ringvägen on Södermalm up to a terrace, and to a big hospital called Södersjukhuset, where I was born quite a few years ago now.

No Winter Maintenance

The stairs up from the tunnel at the commuter station in Tungelsta. Yet to figure out why they built the stairs, maybe only meant for Summer use? I usually pass by here on my bike, so I use the bike path, which is icy, but usually snow free.

Not how I would do it...

Stairway

This ugly concrete stair is older than it might look. Back in the day people walked up and down here to the old commuter station in Handen. A new station opened in the mid 1970s a little further south. If you click this link and scroll down a bit you can see both the old station house and the stairs in a photo taken back in 1970 from the little beach that I stood on the other day shooting that fine Autumn reflection photo.

Shadow Play

I do enjoy lines and shadows. Out on a recent photo promenade with my buddy Jim, we stopped at the newish buildings at Poseidons Gränd in Handen. There are 196 apartments here. Very modern. No ugly high rises. Just four storeys high. There are shops on the first floor, so to get to the apartments from two sides of the complex you need to climb these stairs.

Stairs

There are two big monstrosities in central Handen. Rudsjöterrassen is colorful but dead ugly, next to it is the big Handen terminal. Many people work in the two monstrosities, but if you ask me they need to be demolished. Anyway, between the two buildings you will find this staircase. Also on the ugly side. Oh, but you will of course like my fine photo of the stairs.

Betongtrappa

Swedish word of the day. Betongtrappa. Concrete stairs. Six hundred students will walk up and down these stairs when the new school opens two years from today. This will be the new "Fredrik" school at the Fredrika Bremer Secondary school in Handen.

Mind Your Step

Twenty-four thousand people will injure themselves this winter by slipping on snow and ice. This is a good spot for such an accident. The stairs between the shopping centre and the commuter station in Västerhaninge. At least there is the railing to hold on to.
