Vårskugga

Swedish word of the day. Vårskugga. Spring shadow. My first outdoor "fika" of the year. Shot a few days ago now on a warm and sunny day. It was 10C, but much warmer in the corner where I enjoyed my coffee.

Shadow Play

I do enjoy lines and shadows. Out on a recent photo promenade with my buddy Jim, we stopped at the newish buildings at Poseidons Gränd in Handen. There are 196 apartments here. Very modern. No ugly high rises. Just four storeys high. There are shops on the first floor, so to get to the apartments from two sides of the complex you need to climb these stairs.

A Tired Cyclist

Note to self. Never go for a bike ride during a storm. That's what I did yesterday. It was a very tough workout so when I rode down this straight at Stav in Tungelsta I didnt have the strength to pedal, so I stopped for a photo.

Look Mom, No Hands!

I had to leave my bike (seen partly in this photo), with the Bicycle Repairman as it didn't have any brakes. The bike also needed gear stuff, a new chain and some brake wiring. The Bicycle Repairman told me that he was going to give me a call when the bike was repaired. Well, he hasn't called yet, and the bike shop is now closed for two weeks so I spent an hour yesterday going through the roughly three and a half bikes that you can find in my cellar. All broken, but I think I have managed to fix one of them. Now if it would just stop raining...

Spirals

Spotted these two spirals today. It's a spiral staircase with attached shadow at Coca-Cola Sweden in Jordbro. Not as cool as the Shadowplay from last week but I kinda like this one as well.

Shadowplay

Maybe not Schroeder's reversible staircase illusion, but cool enough for me. I noticed the shadowplay on the wall after I had shot Thursdays panorama photo. I had to wait a while for the camera to process all the photos from that panorama and when it was ready I quickly aimed the camera across the road towards the staircase.

Shadow Figure

My preferred way of transportation is the bicycle. It keeps you fit. You don't travel at a very high speed, so you don't miss much around you which is very good if you are a keen photographer. One of the things I'm always looking for when I'm out with the camera are cool shadows. I sometimes shoot from the bike, but for this cool theme day shot I walked up on a hill and aimed the camera down towards the man on the bike.

Bike Shadow

A photo from one year ago. I was out on a beautiful summer evening bike ride. Through rural Österhaninge. I remember listening to Coldplay at the time. Funny thing is, I took the same ride today. But this time I listened to the birds, that is no mp3 player this time. I made a short video of this ride. And found some free music to add to the video. May not be very exciting to watch but it was my first bike video. Had to be careful! Will put a link here later when I have uploaded the video.

Art is Not a Loaf of Bread...

Found this on a bike ride. Some restaurant has dumped bread next to the road. There's two Bird Parks not long from here. That would have been a better place.
