The Sauna

The Sauna
Winter sauna anyone? Maybe finish with a roll in the snow, before going indoors again, warming up with a glass of wine?

Abandoned

Abandoned Window Frame Walking the plank
Back in the 1940s Swedish soccer legend Lennart "Nacka" Skoglund spent some time at this property. Back then his grandfather Ivan Bremberg operated a greenhouse nursery here. Nacka was a good friend to my dad in their youth, and his mother worked at my families greenhouse nursery for a few Summers. Noticed yesterday that someone had laid out a plank over the Rocklösaån stream so I obviously had to walk over for a few photos.

Through the Trees

Through the Trees
Abandoned house at Lillhammar in Tungelsta. The last owner was an eccentric Norwegian. A few more photos and facts about the property and it's history in my Bremberg, Lillhammar set.

Now and then

Lillhammar
2006lillhammar
A new house is currently being built at a property along Stavsvägen at Lillhammar in Tungelsta. This area used to be filled with greenhouse nurseries back in the 1950s. The last remaining greenhouse collapsed on a cold day 2006, and that is what you can see on the second photo. If you look to the right on the top photo you can see the new noise barrier. It follows the rail-track between the Tungelsta commuter station and the Kriglida platform.

The Skipper

The Skipper

This is Lasse. He lives at Lillhammar in Tungelsta. I have met him before, and if you want to have a closer look at him press here . Lasse is a former sailor. Now retired after a long career on the sea, where he claims to have lost one thousand caps! He has worked on many ships over the years, including HMS Halland, HMS Småland, the frigate Mode and HMS Hälsingland. When he turned seventy he got a web site as a birthday gift from his son. It's in Swedish, and if you understand the lingo, there are a few stories, photos, and even a poem or three to enjoy there. When Lasse isn't shovelling snow you might find him on his sailing boat Santina, together with his wife Kirsti and a few friends.

Abandoned plant nursery

Abandoned Plant Nursery

Another photo from the abandoned plant nursery at Lillhammar in Tungelsta. Built and operated by G Bremberg and his wife until the mid 1940ths. Today the place is abandoned. The property is owned by a very religious and odd Norwegian. He lives in an apartment in a Stockholm suburb and only comes here to grow potatoes. Yesterday I showed you the house by the creek.

The house by the creek

The house by the stream

This is Åstugan (the house by the creek), at Lillhammar in Tungelsta. Built many years ago by a man called G Bremberg, who lived at various places around Tungelsta. Here at Lillhammar he had a very small nursery business with one (1) greenhouse, which is still there, although it's just a skeleton today. Bremberg, who died in 1942 was also the grandfather to one of Sweden's most famous soccer players,Nacka Skoglund, who was a friend of my dad when they were kids. Bremberg's widow lived in this house until her death in 1949.The property is now owned by the Eccentric Norwegian who only comes here for his potatoes. Despite the crappy weather I decided to stop and have a look around so expect a few more photos from this place in the coming days.

The Eccentric Norwegian

The Eccentric Norwegian

We have a few eccentrics in Tungelsta. One of them owns this old shack at Lillhammar, behind the abandoned greenhouse. He is in his eighties. Almost blind and deaf. And very religious. I once had a weird conversation with him. I asked him what he thought about the recent changes in this area, (a new stretch of road and a future new rail track), and he immediately started shouting that they would all burn in Hell! Not sure who he was talking about. Anyway, you will often see him walking from the bus station to the house. And then back the other way. He always carries a bucket. He doesn't live here (he has an apartment in Farsta), but he comes here during the potato season to fill up his bucket. Yes that's right, he grows his own potatoes, and lots of it. He loves his potatoes.
The effect on this photo was made with help of the Poladroid. It's a very cool software for both PC and Mac.
