Now and then

Lillhammar
2006lillhammar
A new house is currently being built at a property along Stavsvägen at Lillhammar in Tungelsta. This area used to be filled with greenhouse nurseries back in the 1950s. The last remaining greenhouse collapsed on a cold day 2006, and that is what you can see on the second photo. If you look to the right on the top photo you can see the new noise barrier. It follows the rail-track between the Tungelsta commuter station and the Kriglida platform.

The passing of greenhouses in your area must be having a big effect on the economy of the area.

It may be a matter of perspective and focal length, but the current photo of the site looks stripped, like many trees are gone. Maybe that was part of your point.

This property runs next to the road and ends at a stream. Behind this house there's another building that used to be part of the greenhouse nursery. It was rebuilt into a family house. For a few years this has been one big grassy area. about the photo itself. I shot it as a panorama. It is three photos stitched together. I wasn't all that happy with the result so I added some sky. Spot on Jack. There have been more than 100 nurseries here in the last century. Only a hand-full left today.

Hopefully the handful of nurseries are doing well Steffe, not so much competition now.
