I was walking the steets of Stockholm again. On this warm and sunny day I was mostly focusing on street photography. A famous artist (that I have never listened to), was in town for two concerts. Which added 100 000 people to the city. And while walking up Kungsgatan this guy drove past me in his Morgan and I just had time for a quick shot and this is it.

Sveavägen Cruising

Sveavägen cruising dates back to the 1950s. Hundreds of classic cars will drive up and down the most famous Stockholm street for several hours. On this day, I arrived in the early afternoon when most people were still at two major car meets nearby, but I still came home with more than 100 photos. The evenings here can be quite special. If you have read my blog for a few years you probably remember my visits to an annual event with cars, girls and a lot of partying. From 2008 to 2019. The event had to close down because of too many complaints from the neighbors and also because of the traffic chaos that followed. But I heard yesterday that the event will return to Vegabaren in late August, which will be fun. More photos from the Sveavägen cruising to come.

Sports car

Walking past an entrance to the century old Nordiska Kompaniet, a luxury department store in Stockholm, I spotted this red sports car. Not sure if that is the owner in the background, trying to look important, but let's say that it is, and that he is waiting for his girlfriend to come out from the store with more bags than she can carry.

Not just mail

Ryska Posten means The Russian Mail. Not a good name for a business after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. So Ryska Posten changed their name to Bara Posten, Just the Mail. Well, that didn't work either as PostNord told them that they owned the word Posten, and they were given one year to come up with a new name. So now they call themselves Inte bara post. Not just mail. Spotted at Munkbroleden a couple of days ago.

1934 Ford Roadster

A fiberglass kit car, according to my Flickr contact Buglugs and he is usually correct when it comes to identifying classic cars. I saw it from Vattentorget, the new square at Slussen and walked over to Kornhamnstorg for a photo. The owner is 80 years young, btw.

A sign of Spring

The story behind the photo

I am on the bike. I spot the old Fiat as it leaves a shopping center and passes me by on Nynäsvägen in Handen. So I think, there goes a missed photo opportunity. Minutes later, I see it parked at Vegabaren. So I cycle that way. As I close in, the owner stands in front of his car admiring it, while snapping away with his smartphone. So I ask if he would mind if I take a photo as well. No, you could take a lot of photos if you would like to. So as he walks in and order some food, I take my photos. A guy working at the fast food joint walks by with a big green garbage bin. He says something about the beauty of the old car, I agree and continue taking photos, not realizing that I now shoot with the autofocus turned off. Something I just realized yesterday morning while looking at a few very blurry photos. But the first bunch came out okay, and here is the first photo I took.

Burned out car

Just another day at Gryt in Haninge. Last time I paid attention to this bus stop was a few months ago when I hid here during a crazy rainfall back in the Summer. This time around, I just stopped for a photo of this stolen, dumped and torched car. Any bus driver that manages to stop here without any difficulties knows how to drive a bus.

A few minutes at a bridge

Cycling to a friends house for a Summer BBQ I stopped at the pedestrian bridge that crosses the busy Gudöbroleden in Handen. My preferred place for panning photos since a number of years. People often walk up to me asking what it is I am shooting and that always surprises me. This time it was a guy from a company inspecting the bridge. Are you hoping to shoot some accidents he asked. Not sure why any normal person would like to do that. So I explained it to him, no I shoot convertibles, old cars, unusual cars, tough guys on motorcycles, tough girls on motorcycles or just anyone who I find interesting. And on this day it was three white cars and a bunch of Harleys.

To The Snowmobile!

Can you describe the vehicle? Yes, it was totally covered by the snow. And it did have two side mirrors.

Campingsemester

Swedish word of the day. Campingsemester. Camping holiday. They could be on their way to Lapland for all I know in the Volvo Laplander. As spotted from the pedestrian bridge that crosses Gudöbroleden a day or two ago.

Lo(w)tus

You don't have to wait long before an interesting vehicle will drive by the bridge where I sometimes shoot panning images. Snapped these two cars on Saturday before cycling on to a BBQ at Norrby.

If your car is stuck in snow...

Clear a path around your tires. Try to dig snow and ice away from the drive tires. Rock your car free of the snow. Don't floor the gas. Improve traction. Get others to help push your car.

Cobra

They drove past me in a roundabout in Handen yesterday and I noticed that they were heading for a nearby filling station, so I followed them there. It was father and son out driving in the homebuilt Cobra. There had been a few issues with the car so they hadn't been able to go to more than a couple of Cobra meets. But the car sounded great they drove off, and everyone that heard the car looked kinda impressed.

Summer arrived and with that my urge to go out and photograph cars with a difference. Like this 1966 Cadillac Deville that I spotted from the pedestrian bridge that crosses Gudöbroleden in Handen yesterday. We probably broke another temperature record, and I'm all for that sort of thing, as I am sure is that very happy guy with the large loudspeaker on his convertible.
