Hay Harvesting

Hay Harvesting

Hay Harvesting

It's that time of the year again. Hay Harvesting. All around Haninge the farmers have been busy with the harvest. I have seen it in large scale near the Häringe castle, where they use many big machines from the Fituna Farm, and small scale like this at Husby in Österhaninge, where there is a small stable just up the hill where the hay from this field will end up as food for the horses. Nice to see the young and old working together here. Shot this last week on one of those very warm days. I believe that the people here are members of Helena Persson's family. Helena is one of Sweden's best English Riders.

I have never seen girls working in a hay field making hay. That is almost funny...

I do like the idea that they can as the bales of hay made here are heavy or about 80-90 pounds and large. Hard to handle. Your photographs are splendid.

Hej igen Steffe Meister! AWESOME red colors through your photos! The barn and farm photos remind me of driving through Sweden, "the holy land." Utmarkt!

A scene repeated everywhere this time of year.

Ahh, I can almost smell that fresh mown hay. My parents took up farming at 55 and yes, my mom was up there slinging those bails. I don't know how she did it. You can tell this is a small operation because all the big ones have gone to round bails. Fantastic color.

The first photo is perfect in colors and composition, the second one explains more. So, not only fine portraits up there: very good images.

Super shots. Here's me dreaming my childhood dream of tractors again! I can't believe this year is already that far gone...

I find it very relaxing to be in these rural areas. But I'm guessing it was hard work for this trio. It's a good place for photography. I have a few very good winter photos from this farm. The stables around here are filled with young girls who enjoy horse back riding and they often have to work hard to keep the place in working order. If you would like to see a winter version from Husby press here.

I'm right along with the others that really like the first photo. I'll bet it smells so good there.

Nice pics Steffe. They take me back to my teenage years, I used to work the baler on a schoolfriends parents farm at haymaking time.
