Group Living

From Vintervägen in Västerhaninge. This is a new building that will be used as a group living for a few young disabled people. On the ladder is Tony the builder. As always when I take photos of people, I gave him a MOO MiniCard.

Spot the dog

I met this woman and her Dalmatian at the nature park Slätmossen in Handen. I was taking some snaps of the ducks when this photogenic dog crossed the bridge ready for a photograph or two. The park is located in a forested area between Handen and Jordbro and is very popular with both, birds, dogs and people!

Christmas Already?

Not really. But the poinsettia plants are ready. Blomorado will open later in the week and I was there yesterday to take some photos for their website. This is greenhouse number six. The newest greenhouse built in the spring of 1990. Posing among the poinsettias are the new gardeners Ingemar and Danuta. Fact: There's 9 million citizens in Sweden. This year around 9 million poinsettia plants will be sold in december. CLICK HERE to see how the plants looked in October.

din X gas station

Earlier in the year the Shell Station in Tungelsta closed. For many years it was managed by the Mikkos family that today lives in THIS house next to Kryddgården. They later sold to another family but they decided to go separate ways. Now preparations have finally started for the new din X Station. It will be open 24/7 and claims to be more economical. It's a swedish chain, they have 150 stations around the country and have been in business for more than 40 years.This is another composite, made of 4 photos.

Pentecostal Church

This is the Pentecostal Church in Tungelsta. I have never been inside, I just take pictures!

Walking in the rain

A rainy and windy saturday in Tungelsta. I was up at the old oak tree for my weekly photo and on my way home I met this couple dressed in matching rain coats. These days when I take someones photo I always give them one of my MOO MiniCards. With my name, flickr site and email info.

At the construction site

Lifts, cranes and workers at the new Frigoscandia warehouse in Jordbro. I follow the progression at this building site and thought that the shadows looked great on this visit. Here is the building shot from the other side, from Lagervägen (Warehouse road in translation). This is a composite made by four photos.

Moonshine over Bergdalen

My neighbour Danuta was out walking her dog, Benny, when she phoned me. You have to come out and look at the moon she said. So I did. This is shot from were our mailboxes are, looking back at my home. There was a halo above the moon, but I had the wrong camera (Ixus instead of the Digital Rebel) so this is what I got.

My neighbour the squirrel

A squirrel (or ekorre as we like to call them) enjoying it's lunch. I can see this tree (it's a common hazel) from the kitchen window, so all I had to do was go out and zoom in on this little guy. This was as close as I could come with the Ixus. I have quite a few photos if this little guy and his friends.

In the news

This is the Pressbyrån kiosk at Jordbro Commuter Station. I usually stop here for a newspaper or something to drink. The other evening a madman armed with a syringe robbed the place. He ran away with some money but was later arrested.

Kalvsvik

All the snow gone! 7 C in Haninge today and a clear blue sky. I stopped at Kalvsvik in Österhaninge at the riding centre for a few photos. It's called Kalvsviks Ryttarcenter. On the old viking road at Kalvsvik I met Gerd and Winnie. Gerd lives in Stockholm and have her horse here at the riding centre. If you take the freeway from the nations capitol to Kalvsvik, it's no more than 15 minute ride.

Just after sunset

In November it gets really dark in Sweden. Today sun up was at 07:18. Sun down this afternoos at 15:46. It's not my favorite time of the year. But you can get some great photo opportunities. Had you lived in Tungelsta say 30 years ago this would have been a very familiar view. A glowing greenhouse. Today there are only 11 greenhouse businesses left. This is Blomorado. Shot half an hour after sunset. The poinsettia plants needs all the light they can get.

A Bergdalen Sunset

November is a good month for Bergdalen sunsets. Took this from the stairs. The greenhouse belongs to blomorado and is filled with poinsettia plants.

Spot the lion

Can you see the lion? This house on Ålstavägen in Tungelsta used to look like it was haunted. Not so today. I have heard stories about the previous owner to this old house that i can not tell you about...

The Pub

Shot this on my morning walk. We had our first snow yesterday. This building was moved to it's current position in Tungelsta a little over a century ago, when the railway track Nynäsbanan was new. Before the move, this house was located in Fors. For many years it was known as Svin-Kalles affär, in english Hog Kalle's Store! Today we buy pizza here and enjoy a beer or three.

We had a little snow in Tungelsta this morning. But it will dissappear. I guess it's just a warning, letting as know that winter is around the corner. Like we didnt know that. Took this photo of the frosty chain on a truck parked at the commuter station.

In A Row

I took a brisk morning promenade around Tungelsta. Looking for anything storm related. Couldnt find more than a tree that didnt make it. So instead I took some photos over at Kryddgården. Here is a fun photo with things in a row. Houses in a row. Lamp posts in a row. Fences in a row. Trash cans in a row and swedish flags in a row. Kryddgården is a housing project that I have been following with my camera for a couple of years now.

Grandfathers Tree Update

That was quick, I guess the stormy weather helped. Now nearly all the leaves are gone from my grandfathers old tree the Common Horse-chestnut at Bergdalen.

A Bronze Age Promenade

One of my favorite places for a autumn promenade. Through the forest and over the grave field in Jordbro. The graves dates back to the Bronze Age. If you get tired there's a few benches and if you get hungry there are a few fire places that anyone can use. And come to think of it, It's not a bad place for a Spring promenade either,
