Lost in the Woods

Lost in the Woods Cabin in the woods This was a pleasant surprise. I visited Småhamra the other day. It's where they found that runestone last year, and I will tell you some updated news about that in a day or three. Anyway, from Småhamra you can take a short-cut through the forest to get to the little village at the Tyresta national park, and that's what I did. I was on the bike and the path is mostly for horses, but you can manage on a bike. Half way through the forest I took a wrong turn. I realised my mistake when the path ended. And this is where it ended. At a little tarn. And next to it a little cabin. I guess it is something belonging to the national park, but I'm not sure. What I do know is that I was very tired when I arrived here, but sitting down by the water for a few minutes, enjoying the silence and the view made all the difference. Skywatch Friday.

No Longer Stuck in the Ice

No Longer Stuck in the Ice
IMG_6557
It was only one month ago that I walked out onto this pier at one of the lakes at the Rudan nature reserve to take some photos of a big tree branch that was stuck in the ice. On this visit it looked a bit different. Funny story here, as I was trying to get the perfect angle for this shot two workers from the municipality arrived. They were replacing broken planks and had to climb over me to get out onto the pier, you can see one of them on my second photo. Oh, and here is a link to the ice photo.

Feet Perspective

View from a pier

Resting on a pier at Lower Lake Rudan. Bigger photo. I took a bike ride around the lake. There's several paths for walking and mountain bike riding in the area. Since it was a beautiful day I decided to stop at all the piers for rest and photography. I shot a few macro photos of dragonflies, a few bird shots and a few like this one. In the background office buildings at Najaden in Handen adjacent to the railway line Nynäsbanan. If you take the commuter from Stockholm it's only a 15 minute ride. The train stops at the Upper Lake. I managed to get back home before the rain came.

Lake Reflection

Lake Reflection

A house with a view. From Upper Lake Rudan in Handen. Ice is beginning to form at the lake. Last time I took a photo here was in late summer, two boys were out canoeing. This is a very popular recreational area minutes away from central Handen. My aunt and uncle lives on the other side of the lake and has a great view of this house from their balcony. I'm guessing that the poeople living in this house will see a lot of fireworks over the lake tonight as we say goodbye to 2006 and welcomes the new year. See you all in 2007. Bigger photo.

Icy Pier at Lake Rudan

Careful!

I took a few steps on the icy pier but quickly turned around as it was very slippery. Ice forming at Lower Lake Rudan in Handen. Probably still some time before the Ice fishers return.

Calm Waters

Calm Waters

Calm waters at Östnora. From my first visit this year. A few people around, working on their boats. I walked around for 45 minutes. A few boats passed, I met one (1) person down by the water. Tested all the piers and rested on my favorite bench. My go back on Saturday, a friend will be down here working on his boat. PRESS HERE for a bigger photo.

missing lifebuoy

missing lifebuoy

Back at östnora for the first time this year. Took my usual promenade around the beach, marina, barbeque hill and more. And then testing all the piers. Here the lifebuoy was missing. But it is still a few month before anyone will go for a swim here so no need to worry!
