Greta Garbo once sat here
One Summer many years ago Greta Garbo stayed at Häringe castle as a friend of the then owner Axel Wenner-Gren. So I'm sure she tried this bench at least once during her visit. Today when the castle has been turned into a hotel one of the suites have her name. That room was built especially for her, and it looks exactly the same today as it did back then. Sadly this bench doesn't look it's best today, but it shouldn't be too hard to fix it I think. If they do maybe Alicia Vikander could pose on it some day.

It looks like a petty simple repair job by a professional would fix this up. I bet Ms. Garbo liked the peace and quiet around this place.
I like it, though it could use an adjustment or two!
Greta Garbo loved to vacation in my country. She came many times, always with a group of close friends, among them Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford and Ramon Novarro, Greta's favorite leading man and a great friend.
They came to a beautiful summer village in the sierras called San Bernardino. It is located on the shores of lake Ypacarai, that of the song immortalized by Julio Iglesias.
The town was founded by a group of German immigrants long ago. One can still hear their language spoken there today. It's cute how they swicht from German to Guarani, the language of the Guarani Indians's tribe and second official language, spoken by 99% of the country's citizens. Why bother to speak Spanish, eh? :o)
San Bernardino had a hotel, very populat at that time (still there) designed by architect Bernhard Förster who lived there with his wife Elizabeth, Friedrich Nietzsche's sister. Regular guests of the hotel were Swedish writer Ida Bäckmann, Nobel Prize winner Selma Lagerlöf's best friend and French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry among others.
Fixing that would take five minutes. Come on, hotel management.
