That Old Tree
I have never experienced stronger headwind than I did yesterday on my way to the old tree. It was brutal. I stood up on the bike and pedalled for all I had and hardly moved forward at all. It was only 5C so it felt like a winter day. This is my 371th photo of the Swedish Whitebeam.

It's a lovely tree; I've grown quite fond of it myself!
You are dedicated if you were willing to fight headwinds like that. Did it occur to you that turning into a coffee shop and passing the time there would have been a lot more comfortable?
No coffee shop or any other shop at all between the start of the bike ride and the old tree, so I only had three choices. Turn around. Walk with the bike, or continue despite the hard wind.
With that kind of wind, it would definitely feel like a cold winter day.
The winds can be pretty fierce here as well as they seem to follow the river valley. Your tree is as beautiful as ever. You should also credit "that old winding road" as well. The two together make a great couple.
I can see a big branch has fallen off. Will someone remove it or will it stay there?
It's hard to imagine the wind from your photo. It looks very calm. I'm trying to imagine you pedalling on your bide and not moving forward!
:)))
Many people have asked the same thing over the last two years Nathalie. The result of a storm a little over two years ago. No one seems interested in removing the branch ( I had a go, but it weighs too much),so I guess it will be around for a few more years and photos.
And even so the broken branch is still there! :-)
Gosh with a wind like that it's a wonder more branches didn't fall Steffe. Would the wind have been a big bonus on the way home, blowing from behind ;)
I was a bit to blame for it myself Grace. The new Steel Horse needs 7 bars tire pressure which I didn't have at the time, but I have now bought a very good bicycle pump and I am flying around the roads now!
