NexusBall People Shots

Ten candid photos from the NexusBall Rally at Norrbro. The top photo shows Janne Taxi. A man who has led a very tough life. Portrait and story here. I don't know the woman in the yellow dress, but I know who she is supposed to be. A character from a classic Swedish movie called Sällskapsresan. She wasn't the only one dressing up, as you can see in some of my shots. And if you have backpiece tattoo, why not show it to everyone when you can. There was also a lot of smoke because, why not, I guess. Stop by tomorrow to see them all drive away.

NexusBall 2023

Last Summer I happened upon a big car event, the NexusBall Rally, totally by chance. This year I was prepared. Held at Norrbro, an old bridge situated between the Royal Palace and the Parliament building in Stockholm. The bridge was absolutely packed with Supercars, drivers, pretty girls, onlookers and more, so I dove right in with my two cameras and started shooting right and left. A few more photos to come in the next few days.

Ten recent street scenes

A mix of recent street photos from around Stockholm. First two community service officers out patrolling near Sergels torg. Then a gesturing man with his girlfriend at Strömkajen. I spotted the selfie-stick women at the City Hall garden, and that is also where the posing woman is standing. The young couple crossing the street did so at Klarabergsgatan/Drottninggatan. Then follows another four photos from Blasieholmen/Strömkajen. And finally a Royal Guard at the Palace. Probably receiving a message about some nosy street photographer snapping away left and right.

Who are the three blondes, dressed in black? What's in the green boxes? And what's happening at the National Museum of Fine Arts?

Munkbroleden

Back at my new lookout point. The bench, (well, I have used two different benches), at Munkbroleden in the old town. A nice place to rest for a few minutes, down by the water, enjoying a bite to eat. While taking photos, of course. The girl in the first photo looked a bit amused. She has a tattoo on her left arm, it says Elias, a lucky guy, no doubt. Next, we have the dedicated cyclists in matching bike gear. Nice. Not everyone rides a bike, as proven in my third photo. The seasoned cyclist in the fourth shot was a bit tired, and knew what was waiting up ahead, a steep climb towards Slussen. And in the last shot, a cheeky girl giving me some tongue!

Revelry

We continue the 2023 Summer series of overpriced, (for me), yachts spotted at Skeppsbrokajen in the old town. This time a motor yacht named Revelry. There's a jacuzzi aboard. As well as a massage room. Steam room. Beach club. Sun deck. Gym. Satellite TV. Not sure about a toilet.

Marching band

A walking concert with Hemvärnets musikkår Östergötland. From the Skeppsholmen islet to Stortorget in the old town. I met them at Blasieholmen yesterday as they marched by the Grand Hotel. They were followed by members from Sjöstridsskolan, the Swedish Naval Warfare Centre, from Karlskrona.

The best way to see Stockholm

For those of you that can't afford the motor yacht in yesterday's post, I give you this. It is often said that the best way to see Stockholm is from the water. So here are a few different ways to do that. I took these four photos at Stockholm City Hall. Kayaking and canoeing is probably the cheapest way, and it will also give you a good workout. The stand-up paddle guy in the second photo was trying to paddle under the City Hall bridge. There is a bigger passage for boats, but maybe he just wanted to try something different. The girls in the third snap were busy looking at all the views, in the background Mariaberget on Södermalm. The couple in the last photo are in an electric boat. The woman spotted me as I lifted the camera, as did the girls in the first photo.

Ningaloo George Town

Another luxurious sailing yacht at Skeppsbron in Stockholm. Owned by the Australian Will Vicars. The asking price back in 2016 was €17.9 million, in case you would like to buy it.The top photo is a 20 photo panorama which was a bit tricky to stitch together.

Cyclists at Munkbroleden

In the old town, down by the water at Munkbroleden a new boardwalk with a number of benches opened for pedestrians in the late Spring of this year. I will often jump off my bike and rest on one of the benches for a few minutes. You have a great view over both Mariaberget on Södermalm, the busy construction site that is Slussen, and parts of the old town of course. And while sitting there one afternoon I decided to start a new photo project. Cyclists at Munkbroleden. I use this very busy bike path a couple of times every week.
