Frönäs

I visited Frönäs over the weekend. It is a goat farm on the Gålö peninsula. It was a fantastic Summer day. The farm had moved it's cafe down to the water for the day for a special occasion. Something that just over 100 people found interesting enough to attend. They served some really tasty cheese cake with the coffee and I will fill you in why we were there in tomorrows post.

Amanda Lind

Amanda Lind, Minister for Culture and Democracy, (and Sports as well), speaking at the cultural festival "Kulturparksfestivalen" in Handen yesterday afternoon. She is a member of the Green Party. Tricky to see from this angle perhaps, but Amanda is pregnant with her third child. She gave a fine speech about all the culture that we have around us. If you speak the local lingo you can hear the speech here.

Moo!

The cattle lives at the Berga Agricultural College and usually spends the Summer in this pasture at Kapp-Ekeby near Fors in Västerhaninge.

Scools Out Forever!

Graduation from high school is a milestone if you are a teenager in Sweden. And very expensive if you are a parent. 558 students from the Fredrika Bremer school in Handen graduated on Friday and if you were anywhere near the school it was hard to miss it.

Pier at Lake Rudan

On my way to a cup of coffee at the cafe yesterday I made a pit stop at one of the lakes at the Rudan nature reseve. Nice day, not too warm, around 20C. Surprisingly few people at the lake but that will change from today as the secondary schools close for the Summer today.

Ladybug on a grass straw

We had a warm Summer day yesterday. Which was nice, both for the crawling photographer and the climbing ladybug. After snapping this I noticed another photographer filming a roe deer that ran past me, and looking up at the sky I saw a RC airplane circling.

Aspen grove in early Summer

I sometimes walk up a hill near Husby in rural Österhaninge to have a look at the view, while enjoying a light lunch from the top of said hill. Often when that happens I first take out the camera for a photo of this aspen grove as I make my way to the top. After taking this photo I opened the camera bag again to switch lenses only then realising that the other two lenses I had planned to take with me were sitting on a table at home. But there's always tomorrow...

Police helicopter chase

There we were, enjoying coffee&conversation at my favorite cafe in the Summer weather when a police officer suddenly ran past us. He was followed by a second officer, and a third, (she was kind of hot looking btw). As they ran past us they asked us if we had seen anyone suspicious looking in the area, which we had not. But in the next ten minutes or so everyone walking by the cafe looked very suspicious to us. The officers were followed by a police car, and minutes later by this helicopter that flew over the area for at least fifteen minutes. I had a look at a local Facebook group that informed us about a robbery/theft/something or other at the nearby Haninge mall. A few updates later one of two suspects had been arrested near Eskilsparken so we relaxed and enjoyed another cup of coffee at the cafe.

The Black Sheep

There's a new black sheep at the Nödesta farm. And it turns out that it is a very sociable sheep. I only had time to jump off the bike and take two photos before it ran towards me as happy as I have ever seen a sheep. Unfortunately my camera malfunctioned mid-shoot so I only got a couple of snaps. Luckily for me it is close to home so I will be sure to drop in again for more photos of the black sheep Bää.

Halfway There

Biking past the construction site Sjögläntan/Parkstråket in Handen recently I decided to stop for a photo. So I sat down on the bench from where you get this view. I didn't have the wide-angle lens with me, so I tried a panorama using the 60mm lens. Which is 96 mm on the 77D. After snapping sixteen photos I realised that from where I was sitting it would be a lot of blue sky in the photo so I gave up. With my preferred aspect ratio this would have been the final result had I kept shooting. This will be a six-storey apartment building.

Lökblandning

That is the name of the big tulip bed near Poseidon's square in Handen. Definitely the most photographed area in Haninge the last two years. In the background some of the new apartments currently under construction in the big Haningeterrassen project.

Aspludd

Last week was all about the aspen seed. The air was filled with the fluffy stuff. Local teenagers soon realised that it burned very easily. There were at least 350 fires reported between Monday and Wednesday. It was so bad that the fire-fighters is Stockholm reported that they were out of vehicles, and that if you noticed a fire relating to the aspen seed you should put it out yourself. all this thanks to the warm summer we had last year.

Forget-me-not

Forget-me-not. Today these plants, (several hundred), grow on a slope next to a bridge in Tungelsta, just a few meters from the railway tracks. But before the bridge was built they were growing in the middle of a little garden. The house and everything else that was once here is long gone today, but the forget-me-not's are still here as a little reminder, at least to the few locals that still remember how it once looked here at what was then Lillhammar.

That Old Tree

Finally. The old tree is turning green again, always a slow starter, but it feels extra slow this year. Summer temperatures this week and there are dandelions turning the fields yellow everywhere.

Two Blondes

We opened the outdoor season at my favorite cafe today. Which meant that we had to carry out the tables and chairs from the old raid-shelter. There is a wooden deck were you can also sit, but I prefer the other chairs, and it was nice to shoot a few candids while chit-chatting and enjoying a coffee with a few of the usual suspects in the Summer temperatures.
