Like a summer day

There are a few small beaches along the Årstaviken promenade near Tantolunden. As well as piers and marinas that the sunbathers can use. And here are four photos to prove that statement.

Årstaviken Promenade

The Årstaviken bay promenade is by far the most popular in Stockholm. That wasn't always the case, but it is today. It is a 7.5 km walk, and the part that I like the most is around Tantolunden where there are always a lot of people out and about.

Making a statement

I spotted this little speedboat at Årsta motorbåtklubb, a marina that can be found at Tantolunden in Stockholm.

Playing in the rain

This is a big mural. 26 meters high and 15 meters wide. Made by Graffitisthlm artists Klive och Klive. You can find it at the Clarion Hotel at Skanstull, Södermalm in Stockholm, it is hard to miss. I shot it as a panorama, it is 18 images stitched together. Photographed last week on a warm and sunny day when I decided to jump on the bike and peddle towards Stockholm for a change.

The first sunbathers

Four girls sunbathing at the beach at Nickstabadet in Nyäshamn. I arrived at the beach after a 30km bike ride on what was a really fine May day. It was the same day as I took all the photos of cyclists. After snapping this I rode down to the dive tower where there is a big bench, it was a bit too crowded so I sat down nearby and ate a light lunch. No one was swimming in the sea but I noticed a few people out in a dingy. After enjoying the sunshine for a while while reloading my batteries I continued my bike ride down to the harbor, I showed you those photos two days ago.

Vroom!

The guest harbor

A few street photos from the guest harbor in Nynäshamn. People queuing for an ice-cream, enjoying lunch, waiting for a ferry, or just enjoying the Spring sunshine on what was a beautiful day. Snapped before heading home after a bike ride to the coastal city a few days ago.

Roundabout Dinosaur

This was a first. A Roundabout Dinosaur at Länna. Eating a flower. And behind it a "traditional" Roundabout dog, claiming to love Länna. Snapped two days ago, just before my second flat tire of the day. A lucky shot because they were both gone yesterday.

Thureholm Castle

Leaving the picturesque town of Trosa we stopped for a quick look and a photo of a castle. Seven hundred years ago there stood another castle here called Gäddeholm. In 1640 a new castle was built on the same spot. It didn't last very long as it was burned down during the Russian Pillage of 1719. Ten years after that the construction started of the current castle, Thureholm. Named after Thure Gabriel Bielke. Today the castle is owned by the Bonde family who also owns Hörningsholms castle.

Ten reasons to visit Trosa

As promised, ten photos showing why so many people visit Trosa, Världens ände. Because of the small town charm. And a walk along the Trosa river where you can see all the old houses along the canal.

My kind of people

Thursday was one of the warmest days of the year, so far. I decided to cycle down to Nynäshamn, which is a dream these days as there is no traffic to speak off on the old Nynäsvägen road. It is a 30 km ride through a rural landscape and it makes me happy every time I ride there. This time I decided to try and photograph every cyclist that I met. Turned out to be tricky as I also stopped to shoot other stuff and missed a few riders. Here are the first sixteen encounters in a collage, plus three more for good measure.Oh and I actually met two of the groups twice, some of these riders are very fast.

Vegastaden

A few photos showing more or less new houses at Vegastaden. Different architecture from the larger apartment buildings closer to the commuter station that I showed you a while back.

A picturescue town

After the visit to Tullgarn Palace we continued our Sörmland trip with a visit to the picturescue tourist attraction town that is Trosa, you can drive here from Stockholm in one hour. Nicknamed Världens ände, the world's end! It is an old city, it dates back 800 years. It is close to the coast and back in the day most people that lived here made their earnings from fishing. It is easy to get lost here for a few hours walking up and down the old streets. These photos shows the hotel, the library and a few traditional houses. I will show you the "real" Trosa attraction after the weekend.
