Dust

Last act to perform on the stage at Poseidon's Square during Haninge Day on Sunday was Dust. They play Rock 'n' Roll! The band signed a record deal just two weeks ago and they recorded this gig for a future live album. If you recognize the singer, Roger Solander, it's because he also sings in another act that I have photographed several times before, Lugnet.

Love Antell

Love Antell, singer in the band Florence Valentin made a solo performance at Poseidon's Square on Sunday during the Haninge Day celebrations. He dedicated one song to Tompa Eken (second photo), and another one to local punk band (back in the day), Dom Vässade. Antell became a household name in Sweden last year when he participated in the TV show Så Mycket Bättre. While Love was singing I took some candid photos of the crowd.

Velothon Stockholm

The first Velothon race in Stockholm (and Sweden), took place on Sunday. Good weather conditions. A bluish sky and maybe 15C, not much wind and the rain stayed away. Three thousand cyclists took part in three different races. One 80 km race and one 160 km race, both open for everyone. And then of course one race for the elite. I had a window of maybe ten seconds to get a few snaps of the elite (with the Swedish National team among them), as they passed me by at Fors in Västerhaninge. A little later I took the bike to another place, many kilometers later for the then tired riders, where there's a short climb and I knew that I could get a few good panning shots from there. Many roads in Haninge and neighboring municipalities were closed off because of the race, and that caused a few problems. One motorist assaulted a race organizer in Tungelsta! Further south in Nynäshamn one bystander was hit by a car. In the end the race was won by Marko Kump from the Adria Mobil team in just over 4 hours. With a little help...

...from an engine kit. Spotted this guy at the Easy Rider Festival last weekend but never got any good shots of him, but I had better luck yesterday at the big car show in Huddinge. The bicycle is an old Hermes, a bike that was first produced back in 1894 by Adolf Fredrik & Janne Nyman. Many more photos to come from this event, which was all about Classic Cars, Customs, and pin-up girls, but I figured a motorized bicycle would be a good start.

Hell of a bike

This was probably the most photographed motorcycle at the Easy Rider Festival. A blue Honda Gold Wing. I gave up counting the chrome skulls after a first look. The blue camper was a bit special. It was called Hell 666. Bit of a bummer me thinks as the real number to the Devil is 616 if you feel like giving him a call. The nerd sneaking up behind me on the fourth photo is my friend Jim.

Rock'n Roll Heaven

Rock'n Roll Heaven will hopefully open in Stockholm in a not too distant future. It will be a theme restaurant with live music and a museum. This bike will be there. I met one of the guys behind the project during the Easy Rider Festival. As you can probably guess they will focus on Elvis Presley and music from that era. As I'm typing this the Swedish artist Brolle is using the bike in the recording of a new music video. The motorcycle is equipped with lots of fun details like two guitars, a drum set, a piano (although you can't play it) and a couple of microphones. It is also signed by Reggie Young from the TCB Band.

Masen

One or two cool mopeds at this years Easy Rider festival at Vegabaren. It rained on and off but I stayed around for a couple of hours looking at all sorts of unusual motorcycles and mopeds. This moped is called Masen. That tells me that the guy who built it is a man from Dalarna.

Idlers Rod Run

Many years ago a bunch of Swedish car enthusiasts visited the US. One day they came across an old license plate with the name Idlers on it. That was an old Hot Rod club from back in the 1950s. When the guys came back home they started their own Swedish Hot Rot club with the same name. Idlers. I met one of the members, Kenneth Ås, recently and he told me about their annual Idlers Rod Run. Late in the Summer they cruise around Södertörn, stopping at specific places to answer some trivia questions. They have been doing that for some fifteen years. Today the run is open for any old (and cool) car. I was over at the old tree last weekend when I saw a few cars passing by so I jumped on the bike and quickly pedaled away to an intersection and started shooting.

The Unlucky Snapper

The unlucky photographer presents two more photos to use in the Utata Big Summer project, Breaking The Rules. Two rules broken here. A straight horizon, who needs that? Found the Amore sailing boat out on the Hårsfjärden Bay on a recent visit. Second rule broken has to do with focusing on the wrong spot as I did with these fine flowers growing close to the rocks at my favorite beach Årsta Havsbad.

Cars & Girls

That is the name I gave to the flickr set with photos from the 2015 Grand Prix Raggarbil. The raggare subculture is very unique to Sweden, but you can find them in Norway and Finland as well. They do love parts of the American culture from the 50s to the 70s as I have told you many times before, and I leave you with this Chevrolet Corvette and a slideshow with all my photos from this years event.

The Redhead

Look, I found a girl with red hair at the big meet at Vegabaren. Very nice rack, I mean earrings and ink. And she is clearly a music lover. My kind of girl.

I want just aiming my camera at the babes or the cars at th e Grand prix Raggarbil event. Here are a few of the "Raggare" as well.

Can I take your photo?

Every year there's a few fun contests at the Grand Prix Raggarbil event. One of them being best looking greaser girl. Carro didn't partake, but if she had I'm pretty sure she could have won the whole thing as she was the prettiest girl I saw there all day.

Liisa

I spotted my flickr friend Benke at the big meet over the weekend. He was busy photographing this girl so I moved in to get a few shots myself. Her name was Liisa. She had a few interesting tattoos that Benke really need to shoot. The tattoos on her leg are a few lines from a song. One Night in Bangkok. She also had a tattoo of her mother on her arm. In case you are wondering, I am going to use the second photo in my Summer project Breaking The Rules.

I have enough photos to continue all year with snaps from this event. Just saying. Here are to hood ornaments that stood out a bit.

A Pose

It was too warm to chat up everyone that I photographed at the Grand Prix Raggarbil so I just asked if I could take a few snaps. This was the first portrait of the day.

Dodge Coronet

I spent nearly five hours at the big car meet at Vegabaren in Handen today. Grand prix Raggarbil 2015 is the official name. It's a very popular event that attracts "raggare" from all over Sweden. I have told you about that very Swedish subculture before. It involves a lot of Americana from the 1950 to the 1970s. Classic cars. Muscle cars. Elvis, rockabilly, greaser girls, alcohol, and much more. I have a few hundred photos to go through now and here are few to get us started. A Dodge Coronet from 1957.

Missed It

I am doing a fun Summer project at the moment. It is called Breaking The Rules. Anyone who is a member of the UTATA group over at flickr can join in. So far I have taken eight photos for the project. There are seven rules that you should try to break. One of those rules is timing.
