Åsöberget

Skeppargränd Kullerstensgata Lotsgatan Tjärvräkaren, Åsöberget Cul-de-sac
This is Åsöberget, a 37-meter-high hill at Södermalm in Stockholm. A historical part of the nation's capital with a lot of old wooden buildings. This is a cultural reserve since the 1950s. Most buildings are one story, and all of them are more than 300 years old. All painted with the Falu-red paint. The people that lived here back then were mostly poor, working either at the docks, or in the tar industry. Today, all the buildings here are owned by Stadsholmen AB, a company controlled by the city. All in all, they own nearly 300 old buildings in Stockholm. To live here today, you can expect to queue for many years.

I can see why there would be a line waiting to live here. It is very appealing.

We visited Falun and the mine several years ago. The Falu red is so typical for Swedish homes.

Those who lived there would probably move out in two seconds to get to where those waiting in line today are living. Life is funny. (irony)
