Österhaningesalen

Österhaningesalen
This is the ceremonial funeral building at the Österhaninge graveyard. It is built in the shape of a stranded ship, turned upside down. At least according to the architects. The design is also meant to look a bit like the medieval church in Österhaninge, you can see photos of the church in my set. The building is open for all types of funerals, no matter what religion you are, including non-religious funerals. The architects were Åsa Flarup-Källmark, Monica Sandberg, and Bengt Krusemo. You get a better view here.

Another take on the old wood building craft in Scandinavia. Nice.

The black and white sets the sombre mood.

I'm not sure I see the stranded ship reference but it does look warm and welcoming.

I like how it is surrounded by nature.
