Color Vs. Black and White

The Birch Allée

The Birch Allée

Time for another different seasons post, but with a difference. No diptych this time. But Color Vs. Black and White, and Autumn Vs. Summer. The color photo is from June. The Autumn shot from a few days ago. This is the very narrow birch allée near the old Söderby estate in Vega in Handen. Still no facts about who planted the trees like this and why. If this looks familiar to you it is because I showed you two photos from here on the theme day in September.

I am still a fan of color.

I'm with jack - I like the colour too although the B&W is pretty cool.

Colour for me Steffe, but you have had some amazing b&w shots of late. That cemetery shot still haunts my imagination.

deux belles versions mais je prefere la couleur, pour moi la b&w manque de contrasme

probably that narrow to stop cars? I like these contrast shots. I must try one.

It is a well-worn path, so his placement was spot on. Where does it come from, and where does it go to?

I prefer the mono, but I also like the colour.

Both are beautiful pictures, but in this case I prefer the black and white.

Ha ha, there are no cars here that's for sure Peter.

The path starts high up near the entrance to the old estate. It's a group of wooden buildings, where the only thing that is missing is the estate itself, it burned down more than a century ago and was for some reason never rebuilt. I visited the estate a few months ago. I stopped for a chat with a man who was born there, and he now uses a little red cottage as his summer house. It's very beautiful and you can see a photo here. The path ends behind a large supermarket and had I aimed my camera to the left you would have seen the motorway to Stockholm.

I must admit that I like the b&w version more . The trees with their white bark are made for this.

both wonderful.

Both photos are nice but, I'm truly a lover of color. I'll almost always choose color over B & W.

Both are excellent Steffe because the scene is fabulous, I do love B&W, but I think on this one I prefer the colour! Which one do you like best Steffe?

I like both. But I am more of a summer person, so seeing all that green on the summer photo makes me happy.

I often have a hard time choosing between color and black and white myself. But for the winter shot, I like the b&w. Those birch trees just cry out for it.

I do not like B&W, but I can see the beauty of it in some rare, exceptional images.
This is clearly one of these, but my preference still goes to the color one. But it is a close call this time...

i like color better....
b&w seems to hide some flaws in the pic, sometimes. or said differently; sometimes i dont like a pic and then i look at it in B&W and then its a bit better, but i always feel theres something missing; color..

Can't choose between the two. Both capture you attention and both evoke feelings about the scene.
