Too Cool for School

Too Cool for School

These days when I see someone that I would like to photograph I usually tell them what it was about them that made me look one extra time. In Anton's case is was his symmetrically trashed jeans. He has ripped them himself. I was in a class at school one day and it was so boring that I started trashing my jeans was his explanation. Anton is a secondary school student. On his free time he plays floorball for IBK Handen. A sport that first saw the light in Sweden in the 1970s. Anton plays in the Boys 95 team, but is hoping to make it into the Men's Team. Oh, I should say that I have played the sport myself, although in a less serious environment, you can see the proof of that on this old photo.

Love your title for this post Steffe, he certainly is a very cool young guy, I like his 'confident' look. Also your 'watch seller' story made me laugh, could just imagine the guys face!!

Looks and sounds like dozens of kids his age I used to teach. Love retirement! Cool shoelaces.

I love this one, Steffe. He has worked so hard at looking effortlessly cool.

Great shot again. I wonder what the boy wil think about his looks in a year of two.

Must be my age; I've never seen the point of ripped jeans.

You really have a knack for photographing the unusual in your area. I have not seen anyone with clothes like this for years. I don't get out and about much but most teenagers and those in their 20s are usually dressed in good clothes and look like they were ready for work or just got off of work. This guy would fit in with a construction crew but they'd make him cut off the ripped portion of his jeans as it would be too much of a risk for him to be around any equipment that the jeans might snag on.

What would this guy look like if he was on his way to be interviewed for a job? I mean would he wear the same outfit?

A great photo of a happy and highly individual youth, with his own style. Fascnating to read about floorball too- sounds fun (to watch, not to play!) Thanks Steffe!
