How To Build A Very Cool Chopper

That could be a good title if the people on the top photo ever decided to write a book. This is Conny Fransson and Elisabeth Johansson from Falköping. They were on their way to the big Harley Davidson meet at Gålö when I met them in Västerhaninge on Friday. The orange chopper (2200cc), is one of three Harley bikes that Conny has built. And he still owns all three of them.The customised fork on this one is 24 inches longer than the original. He figured that the bike had costed him around 270 000 SEK. Money well spent. His girlfriend Elisabeth works at Volvo Penta and is a very good mechanic, so she has been working on the engines together with Conny. The weather was horrible on Saturday, but I am planning to jump on my bike on Sunday morning and head out to the Gålö peninsula where I am hoping to get a few photos of the Harley bikes. I talked to a couple of bikers who had already been out there and they were hoping to see something like 3200 bikers there, sounds like fun!

The Lovely Emma

I have been shooting a lot of portraits lately of people that used to be strangers to me. Because once I have photographed someone I usually see them all the time. And when I do I often ask if I can take another portrait. And find out what has happened in their life since we last met. So this is Emma. You first met her back in November. Since then I have met her at Malmens cafe a couple of times. Emma's friend Matilda has moved away from Haninge so these days she often hangs with a new friend (not seen here). So while Emma and her sister where having coffee and cigarettes at one table I sat at the next table talking with my friend Jim, while taking a bunch of photos of Emma and her tattoos. She told me they are all about her family. And i really like the Mamma tattoo.

The Knitter

Over the last few years I have seen a new type of street art around Vadet in Tungelsta. A number of trees have been fitted with what looks like knitted leg warmers. Yesterday as I was taking some photos of the colorful works of art the artist arrived home so I decided to walk over for a chat. This is Anna-Greta. Her family has owned Vadet for a century. We have never met before, but before I had time to introduce myself she asked if I was that Steffe guy who takes so many photos! As both our families have lived in Tungelsta for a century we had a few things to talk about. Phone numbers was one thing we discussed. My great grandfathers phone number was #1. Anna-Greta's family had #3. That was back when there was a switchboard operator. But I actually know Gretas current phone number, just by knowing that digit. The street art knitting is of course illegal which Anna-Greta pointed out to me when I asked if I could take her portrait, but I'm quite sure that the cops won't be calling her any time soon. Even if they have her number.
