Arméns musikkår

Vaktparaden Arméns musikkår Arméns musikkår Military Musician Arméns musikkår
Arméns musikkår on their way to the Royal Palace in the Old Town. Always fun to see, and hear. I took three of the five photos at Kungsträdgårdsgatan when they walked past The King's Park. And the lat two photos at Strömgatan just before they walked over the bridge leading up to the Palace. It was me and a bunch of tourists.

The changing of the guards

The changing of the guards Vaktparaden
I never plan to get these photos, I just seem to be around every now and then when they make their way to The Royal Palace. Here they are at Skeppsbron, very close to the Palace.

Changing of the guards

Flagbearer Göta trängregemente Getting the shot Göta trängregemente
I was lucky enough to cycle past the Royal Castle during the changing of the guards last Saturday. On this day it was soldiers and musicians from T2. Also known as Göta trängregemente from the Swedish army. They are based in the town of Skövde.

And the band played on

And the band played on
Five-hundred years ago, we got a new king. Gustav Eriksson, better known as Gustav Vasa. He arrived to Stockholm from Strängnäs with his personal guards, Högvakten, on the 24th of June 1523. To celebrate that 500 years later, on the day, Högvakten and the marching band Marinens Musikkår performed a few songs here at Medborgarplatsen before marching over to the Royal Palace. I followed them there and have a few photos from what happened at the Royal Palace and at Stortorget later that day to show you in the coming days.

Oh, no!

Oh, no! Hemvärnets Musikkår
This was a fun moment, at least for everyone but the police officer from Rytteriet. It was her job to see to that the Changing of the Guard, on this occasion also with the marching band Hemvärnets Musikkår could proceed to the Royal Palace. She did not know about the NexusBall Rally, and they were driving down the same street at Skeppsbrokajen in front of the palace, so she was on the phone for a while as the guards and the marching band came closer and closer as they crossed Strömbron. In the end, they walked on the wrong side of the road past the palace without any incidents.

King & Queen & The Royal Guards

King & Queen Beridna Högvakten Mounted police Sabel The Royal Guards Högvakten The Royal Guards Feather duster?
By sheer luck, I happened to be at the Royal Castle at Gamla stan in Stockholm just as the Royal Guards were leaving, so I decided to stick around for a while. On the top photo, you can see H.M. Konung Carl XVI Gustaf and H.M. Drottning Silvia on their way to the Swedish Parliament for the opening of the Riksdag session. Riding in the "Sjuglasvagnen". The following photos show the Royal Guards, or Högvakten as we like to call them. I was on my fast eBike, so I managed to shoot them from a few different locations. Oh, and on the last photo that thingy on his head looks just like my feather duster!
