The Swedish Whitebeam

The Swedish Whitebeam

I walked down to the old tree yesterday. Some of the snow has melted away, which is nice. I noticed a few common cranes on the meadow. Unfortunately they were too far away for my camera, despite the fact that I had the zoom lens mounted. And this somewhat different view of the old tree was tricky to shoot. It is six photos shot with the zoom lens, which I then stitched together and turned into a black and white photo.

The old water tower

The old water tower

Back in 1912, a few years after the first plant nurseries opened in Tungelsta a water tower was built at the Rocklösaån stream at Gideon Wolmer's property. For many years the tower provided water for many of the greenhouses in the area. They used a "vindmotor" to pump up the water to the water tank. Today everything associated with the water supply is long gone and the building is used for storage. The Wolmer greenhouses are also gone. I took a photo of the sad remains two years ago and they are also gone now.

The Off Season

The Off Season

It's the off-season for a lot of activities. Spotted this horse wagon at Skolvägen a while back. A sleigh would work better this time of the year I think.

Moment 24

Moment 24

Joakim was on his way to work (at a short-stay rehab centre),when I noticed him at a bus stop in Handen on Friday. The bus was still a few minutes away so we had time for a chat. I didn't have to tell him who I was because he already knew that as I had previously photographed of of his friends, the beautiful Therese. Thomas big hobby is music. He calls himself Moment 24 and you can listen to a couple of songs at his MySpace site.

Into The Mist

Into The Mist

We had some mist today. Visibility was down, so to speak. I still figured I could get some good shots and went out for a photo promenade. Some of you will recognise this view. It's the old tree again. But in Black & White and from a different angle than I normally shoot. Had I arrived five minutes earlier, we would have seen three girls coming out from the mist on their horses but you can't have everything. If you want to see a horse in the mist from this place have a look at this.

The School

The School

The two storey brick school building at Tungelstavägen. I was a student here in second and third grade, back in the 1970ths. Before me my mother was a student here when the school was new in 1952-1953. Since then a few more school buildings have been built here.
