Luddes stuga

Luddes Stuga
This is Luddes stuga, (cottage), at Strandvägen in Nynäshamn. It is named after Ludvig Samuelsson. He was the last person that lived here. He died in 1935. The cottage dates back around 300 years and it is the oldest building in Nynäshamn. It was built after the Russian Pillage of 1719. Before the Russians attacked, another cottage stood on the same property, it was called Sandstugan.

Nice cottage, sad that it is abandoned...

Is it a monument for visiting now?

It sits at the entrance to the local historical association's place. The Sotholms Härads Hembygdsförening. They received the building as a gift some 40 years ago. Three hundred years ago it was the home of the fishermen working for the nearby Nynäs Estate. I am yet to go inside but if it is open one day when I'm in the area I will go in for a closer look.

It's a beauty. Thanks for the heads up on the link in my post. All fixed now.

It certainly feels enduring.

So this one survived, and the other did not. There are probably stories there.

This cottage replaced the one that the Russians burned down Judith.
