The Viking Carpenter

The Viking Carpenter David Wåhlander is the Viking Carpenter. I met him during the Viking Festival in Handen. He told me the story about the lathe. It origins from ancient Egypt. 5000 years ago it took two people to operate the tool. An Emperor and his slave! David does it all on his own. He really loves his handicraft, and if you check out his web site you will find a photo gallery showing many of his works. www.snickarvikingen.com/

Lathes can be quite interesting. Looks like he's quite the carpenter. I hope he makes a good living, b/c it seems to be hard work!

Its a really useful skill to have and sadly not one that I have at all. I loved the bowls, very nicely done.
