That Old Tree

That Old Tree

Sometime this week it will be decided where the new racecourse for horses will be located. It stands between Södertälje and Haninge. If Haninge gets it it will be built here at Västa. It's going to be a massive race park and it will of course be a big injection for the local economy. I think it is a bad idea as I like this area as it is, but unfortunately it's not up to me to decide. Anyway, this is another look at the old tree. I had to walk through deep snow to get there this time, but it was worth the walk I think. If you have a few hours, sit back and enjoy the slideshow with 206 photos of the old tree taken by me over the last five years.

Neat show. Here's hoping your area doesn't get a racecourse.

I see racehorses racing at the little road besides the old tree. It must be better for people to use the nature as it is, but not for the economy. Your old tree makes me often look for one here in the area, but such a charming one as yours is not yet found.

I watched your Old Tree slideshow, it is especially nice since you have taken all of the pictures from almost exactly the same spot. And you have had some amusing travelers on the pathway, as well. I hope the tree remains uninjured by the proposed construction. It is always sad to lose open space.

I love your photos of this tree, and this slideshow is wonderful! It reminds me of the tree on the cover of the Genesis album, Wind & Wuthering. Of which I happen to have a tattoo. :)

I don't think there's a one of us that will get tired of the old tree. The slide show is really an interesting batch of photos too, going through all the seasons. I guess as far as the horse track goes only time will tell. You could chain yourself to the tree in protest.

Ha, that would make for an interesting photo Don and Krise!

Haninge is known for it's many horse farms Jørgen, and I often meet riders here. But I'm not sure if they all want the race track.
