Two Volkswagen Beetles

Volkswagen 1200 LIM

A Familiar Face

Two very different Volkswagens. The cool sports-car is a Porsche replica, built from a Volkswagen 1200 from 1965. The second photo shows a 1960 Beetle convertible. The woman behind the wheels is called Elisabeth. She works at my favorite cafe in Handen. The car is in mint condition and belongs to her son.

The little convertible is wonderful. I am impressed that they maintained it so well.

There is a strange game that we play in Australia where the first person to see a classic beetle shouts 'Punch Buggy' and then punches the nearest person in the arm (hard as possible)! Yes very strange but I often wonder if it is just in Australia or in other places.
This stupidity is so wide spread amongst the youth that the term bettle or bug or even VW means nothing, the are simply 'punch buggies'.
By the way that is a classic VW that I would love to own.

Great shots. Interesting "Porsche" but the mint bug is cool.

I have many memories of freezing in a beetle in the winter and having to scrape the inside of the windshield but would love to have that convertible for a summer ride!

You can say that those cars are a dynamic duo! XD They have the same name, but they have a different style of impressiveness. A feat worthy of praise, don't you think?
