Lokomotiv

Lokomotiv
Swedish word of the day. Lokomotiv. Someone noticed the photographer. As seen at the Jordbro industrial park on Thursday afternoon. I was nearly run over by this locomotive a couple of years ago. It passed this walkway silently which scared both me and the engine driver. Fingers were shown. No such trouble this time around.

A Medieval Church

Graffiti Church Tower
The atheist out shooting churches again. This time the medieval church in Västerhaninge. Seen from Ribby where someone decided to graffiti up this electrical substation or whatever it is. And also from further away, from Hanveden where it looks like the church sits right in the middle of the forest.

Aspen Hill

Aspen Hill
Aspkullen, (Aspen Hill), in Österhaninge on a fine Autumn day. I will often walk up there for a look at the view towards Husby and Kalvsvik but on this visit I only jumped off the bike for this photo.

Fountain

Fountain
After a suggestion from Camilla Björkander who works with human geography, the municipality made this fountain at the upper lake in the Rudan nature reserve a few years ago now. There are lights attached to the fountain, so it looks a bit different when it's dark. The commuter station is just to the right so everyone that passes by here to and from Stockholm can see the lake, the forest, the beaches, the theatre building, and the fountain. The red building close to the new beach is under construction.

Hunting Blind

Hunting Blind
It is moose hunting season here. So you need to be really careful if you are out walking in a forest. This hunting blind can be found at Stav where I met a moose just a couple of weeks ago.

Out cycling along some of the backroads in Haninge. This is the old gravel road from Årsta Säteri towards Alvstatorp, the property up on the hill.

Woof!

Woof!
I noticed this new roundabout dog along Stavsvägen in Tungelsta a while back, and cycling home a couple of days ago I decided that it was time to snap a photo of it before it disappeared.

After the hike up to the top of the Vinsberget hill the other day my two companions decided that they needed some coffee so we headed for Lövhagen where they sat down in the garden while I walked down to the rocky beach at Knappelskär for a look at the sea and cliffs.

Thermal Fuse Blown

Thermal Fuse Blown
The coffee maker gave up. It was late in the evening and I really needed my coffee. Luckily for me, my brother was nearby. He quickly identified the problem, the thermal fuse had blown. So he removed the fuse and half an hour later I was sipping my coffee again.

Vinsberget

Svartfjärden Vinsberget Gröndalsviken Autumn Forest Bird Street Super-post-Panamax Cranes
It has been an unusually warm Autumn. This last weekend was no exception. Together with two of the usual suspects, I decided it was time for another visit to the Käringboda nature reserve in Nynäshamn. On our previous visit, we checked out the beach and the rural surroundings on a glorious Summer day. This time we decided to climp up a hill. The Vinsberget. You don't need a breathing apparatus at 63 meter above sea level so it was a nice hike. The view was pretty good if you ask me. Top photo shows a bay called Svartfjärden. Second and third photos gives you a look at Gröndalsviken. The fourth one speaks for itself. The fifth photo shows a few houses at a street called Fågelvägen which is a bit of a pun. It translates to Bird Street, but it is also a saying that means the shortest wasy between two places. The last shot shows you the two Super-post Panamax cranes at the brand new port in Nynäshamn. The wind picked up after a while so we decided it was time to leave.

This Way

This way
I snapped this very 2020 photo over the weekend while visiting the Käringboda nature reserve. A few photos that makes more sense from my visit to come tomorrow. The fine people at Utata liked this one so you can read a few words at the Front Page thanks to Greg.

One of the smaller beaches at Årsta havsbad on a sunny Autumn day. I'm guessing all the leaves will be gone from the birch at my next visit.

Monochrome Monday. First photo shows the slippery cliffs at Skälåker. Second photo is from my favorite beach Årsta Havsbad, it shows rocks in the water and further out in the bay a fisher. Third photo shows the facade on the new apartment building Fyren, The Lighthouse, in Nynäshamn. I took the fourth photo at the 800 year old castle ruin Hammerstahus.

Decaying Greenhouse
One of quite a few neglected greenhouses in my neck of the woods. This one is at Vreta between Tungelsta and Västerhaninge. I bike past it most every week and liked the Autumn colors so I stopped for a photo.

October BBQ

Slippery When Wet Skälåkersviken Autumn Birch Gålö Havsbad Gålö Havsbad Cliffs at Skälåker Windswept Pine October BBQ
Together with two of the usual suspects, I visited the Gålö nature reserve earlier this week. I showed you photos from a previous visit a couple of months ago. This time we decided to have a BBQ at the beach at Skälåker. It was a warm and beautiful Autumn afternoon, I had chatted with the meteorologists at SMHI the day before and they had promised great weather and they were right. The Chef of the day was Jujja (to the right on the last photo). We used the Gerry Weber grill that Hasse, (sitting at the table), got for his birthday this year. As Jujja prepared the food I went for a photo walk along the beach and over to the slippery cliffs, the first thing I did was to fall and hurt my back. Being a Viking I soldiered on and just before I got back to the guys I slipped off a very slippery footbridge and ended up standing in the mud. After complaining about my misfortune and getting laughed at we ate the best ever grilled salmon in the history of the world so all in all it was a great Autumn day. We are planning another outing tomorrow so chances are that I will show you some photos from another nature reserve in the coming days.
