A game of football

Ibbe scores!
I stopped at Torvalla Sportcenter in Handen today and watched a bit of the football match between Västerhaninge IF and Qaran IFK. In the end Västerhaninge, (the home team), won the match 1-0 after a header from Ibbe on a corner kick. That is him in the top photo scoring that goal. A few more photos from the game in the slideshow. VIF plays in Division 4, the season is yet to start so this was a preseason game.

The Hat Man

The Hat Man
There he was, sitting just behind the fence. Gave me a stern look. Asked me what I was doing there, I could ask you the same thing I said. It is what it is he said, lets leave it at that, so that's what we did. But it was a nice day.

A Brick Wall

Brick Wall
I always enjoy shooting windows and façades. This is a brick wall at the Fredrika Bremer secondary school in Handen. A new (very modern), school is currently being constructed across the road, and I haven't read up on what will happen to the old buildings here.

Geometrical-optical illusion
If you look at the photo for a few seconds you might get the impression that it is not a perfect rectangle. Office windows at Handnterminalen in Handen.

Green on White

Green on White
Getting warmer again, add to that a blue sky and a warming sun so maybe this is the last snow of the season? Found on my promenade along the new rail track to be.

Along the railway-track

The Commuter
I took a walk on what will soon be the new rail-track between Tungelsta and Hemfosa along the Nynäsbanan yesterday. It's the century old railway line between Stockholm ant the port city Nynäshamn. This is between two old railroad X-ings that soon will close, just south of the Tungelsta station. The overhead lines to the left weren't here on my last photo walk so the construction is going forward every day. Oh, and if you are interested in these types of snaps feel free to have a look in my photo set about work on the Nynäsbanan over the last few years.

That Old Tree

That Old Tree
It was snowing when I woke up yesterday. Had I been a bit quicker getting to the old tree there would have been snow on the branches, but you can't have everything, and this was the scene in the early afternoon.

A Happy Man

A Happy Man nilsson
Skiers are always happy, and Christer Nilsson was no exception. He was skiing back and forth over the frozen Lower Lake at the Rudan nature reserve in Handen when I spotted him earlier today. Everything was perfect today he told me. No wind, 0C and a clear blue sky and just enough snow on the ice. He preferred to ski on the frozen lake as that made it possible for him to use the skate technique, something you can't do on the ski track here. Christer is a former ski coach/trainer/teacher. He has worked at the Mora skidgymnasium, (Upper Secondary School), and also at the Dalarna University. Before that he was a good athlete. He once won the national title in Ski-orienteering in junior athletics.

Lokatt

Lokatt Caterpillar Excavator
Spotted a Lynx on my walk the other day. Or at least an artwork depicting a "Lodjur", as we like to call the cat in Swedish. It sits on a caterpillar excavator currently being used on the work on the new railtrack south of the Tungelsta commuter station.

New Port

New Port Waxholm I
The new port at Årsta brygga in Haninge is under construction at the moment. The builder is E-Schakt Entreprenad AB. The new port will be bigger than the old port, and it will be easier for the ferries to visit. If you are heading to Utö, this is a good starting point. The parking situation here will also improve, something everybody who has ever visited will appreciate. goo.gl/zkuMyt

The Lone Fisher

The Lone Fisher Out on the water
I visited my favorite beach earlier in the week. No one was sunbathing just yet. But I did spot a lone fisher out on the Horsfjärden bay. In the background war ships at the the 1st Marine Regiment at Berga.

Every Day is a Good Day for Golf

Midwinter in Sweden Every Day is a Good Day for Golf
Matte, Allan and Tomas out on the golf course at Årsta Castle in Haninge earlier today. Midwinter, 0C, grey skies and a bit of rain, perfect for a round of golf! The guys are all 70+. They have been playing golf together since 1986.

BMX Pump Track

BMX Pump Track Five Wooden Jumps
Someone has set up a BMX pump track with a number of jumps at Hanveden in Västerhaninge. I counted seven jumps, this being the largest one. I have updated the post with a collage showing the rest of the wooden jumps.

Iron Maiden Truck

Powerslave Iron Maiden truck Iron Maiden Eddie the Head
Someone at TSM i Järfälla is a big fan of Iron Maiden. I spotted the Scania truck at the Jordbro industrial area earlier today. The custom paint job was made by Nina Myllymäki from Finland back in 2010. The artworks on the first and third photo shows Eddie the Head, the bands mascot. The last photo is The Trooper.

Handenterminalen

Yellow Door Bus terminal Handenterminalen Bus Terminus No More
The bus terminus in Handen closed for traffic one year ago in preparation for the new massive Haningeterrassen project. And now a year later the station is being demolished. And for the next decade (!), this area, close to the mall, City Hall, and the commuter station will be a very busy construction site. When they are all done there will be 450 new apartments here plus an underground bus terminus, here at the old terminus there will be a new 18-story apartment building.

Winter Leaf

Winter Leaf
I found some snow on Friday. In a forest at Stav in Tungelsta. Up on a hill. I followed the deer tracks hoping to see some wildlife but they were long gone. So I had to make do with what I could find and that was this leaf.

Snowmageddon 2016

Snowmageddon 2016
I was out walking when the Snowmageddon hit. This was the scene on the walkway at the Krigslida commuter station. I made it home without any difficulties.

A Good day For Skiing

AXA Sports Club Cross-Country Skiers -1C and a blue sky Skier at Rudan A good day for skiing
It was a good day for skiing at the Rudan nature reserve today. -1C and a clear blue sky. Luckily for the cross-country skiers the snow machines have had a few busy nights and this is one of the few places in Stockholm where you have been able to go skiing this Winter. This time it is an all male ensemble. Last time I showed you a few ski portraits it was an all female affair.

Fence & Rooster

Hankgärdesgård Tyrestatupp
No real inspiration for photography at the moment. And I do of course blame the weather for that. One day it's 7C and a blueish sky. The next it's freezing and snowing again. Yesterday was an in-between day so I took the bike to the Tyresta national park. This is a fence called Hankgärdesgård, this type of roundpole fence dates back to the Viking era a Millennium ago. It's a few photos stitched together, shot with the nifty fifty to get that shallow depth of field. The buildings in the background belong to the old village. They are a few centuries old, there's a working farm there and that's where I met the rooster.

Argos

Argos
Not too long now before the new occupants can move in to old City Hall in Handen. It will cost you a pretty penny to live on the top two floors and the view from up there is said to be a good one. You can see both Stockholm and the archipelago. The new apartment building is called Argos and sits in the middle of the Haninge mall so if you need to go shopping just use the elevator and you are there.

Wiener-Semla

Wienersemla I am actually yet to try this type of Semla at my favorite cafe, Malmens konditori in Handen. Today is theme day at CityDailyPhoto, the theme for February is scenes from a coffee house. Over the years I have taken hundreds of photos at the cafe and if you have a few minutes check out a few in the slideshow.
