No more bird seeds?

No more bird seeds?
My photography is on hold at the moment. I can't cope with the Winter we are having. I am sure this squirrel feels the same. It is the same one that I showed you a couple of days ago. Even sitting in the same tree. Just photographed from another angle. I had to wade through the snow as I made my way up the hill at home to get the shot. Snapped yesterday.

Lunch Guest

Lunch Guest
The photogenic squirrel dropped by just as it stopped snowing the other day. Before posing for a few photos it decided to eat some bird seeds.

Going Nuts Here

Going Nuts Here
The smell from freshly baked pastries were driving this guy crazy outside the cafe a few days ago. It ran back and forth, jumped up onto my bike and also tried one of the chairs at my table, but couldn't find anything edible there, only my friend Jujja's jacket. One window stood open at the bakery, but it was too high up for the squirrel although he measured the jump a few times and I'm sure he will make it one day soon.

Mr. Big Ears

On the lookout This is Mr. Big Ears. He lives in a tree. Sometimes when Mr. Big Ears is hungry he will visit my yard for a chance of some tasty bird food. Sadly on this visit there was no food available. Skywatch Friday.

Feed Me, Feed Me, Feed Me!

Feed Me, Feed Me, Feed Me!

One of the squirrels at Bergdalen trying it's best to hypnotize me so that I would fill up the bird feeder. It worked according to plan.

Any Nuts to Spare?

Any Nuts?

One of the local squirrels (we like to call them ekorrar), came over for a visit today. There's an empty bird feeder on this birch tree next to the veranda at Bergdalen. That can be very upsetting for a hungry squirrel, hence the stare down, which was won by the squirrel I might add, as I have now refilled the feeder. As I took this photo it started to snow and I'm guessing we will get a few centimetres of snow now.

The Young Ones

Baby Squirrels

Baby Squirrel

Baby squirrel up a tree

Two days ago we noticed a baby squirrel at the veranda. It was eating the bird seeds on the lawn. Tindra the cat was very interested, but didn't have the energy to try and catch the young squirrel. Yesterday there was four baby squirrels here. All eating bird seeds. For hours as it seemed. Enter Matilda the cat, Tindras sister. So now there are only three baby squirrels left.

Posing Squirrel

Posing Squirrel

I have shown you some of the local wildlife before. Like Moose and Roe Deer and all sorts of birds. But this is one of my favorites. The very photogenic squirrel Sciurus vulgaris. Known in Sweden as a Ekorre. It lives here at Bergdalen and is a frequent visitor to the veranda where it often enjoys the bird food. It's quite shy, and if and when you get too close it will make a noise and start to jump around a bit. But as it is well aware that I'm in charge of thee food distribution around here, it doesn't takevery long before it's back, ready to pose for the nutty photographer once again!

How D'ye Do?

How D'ye Do?

A red squirrel up in the oak in the back garden, enjoying it's lunch. Looks like it's hazel nuts on the menu today, on this the real first day of winter. More squirrels here.

A very upset squirrel

A very upset squirrel

Hey, where's the bird food? I'm hungry!

Every day this summer, this squirrel and one of his buddy's have been visiting as I'm feeding the birds.During the summer there really isn't necessary to give the birds anything to eat, but when I quit filling the bird feeders they flew in and landed on the veranda table, trying to steal my breakfast. So I gave up and now the squirrels take advantage of that!
