A walk in the park

Walking through the park
This was the scene in the park in Tungelsta yesterday morning. So we got a white Christmas after all. It was -9C when I snapped this photo. The plan was to walk over to the old tree for a snow photo of it, but it was way too cold for that, so I might try that later today. Glad fortsättning as we say here the day after Julafton.

Winter sculpture

Touched by Flowers
A sculpture in the park in Tungelsta. Rörd av blommor. Made by Klara Kristalova. The name of the park is Tungelsta trädgårdspark. The garden park. Named so because of the many greenhouse nurseries that made Tungelsta at least a little famous back in the day. There have been more than 100 family owned and operated greenhouse nurseries here. The first one opened 115 years ago, by my great-grandparents, btw. It was called Bergdalens Handelsträdgård. It is still here today, but under a different name and with a new owner.

The bridge

Bridge
During my promenade through the park I noticed that no one had walked over the bridge crossing Rocklösaån, since the latest snowfall, so I walked around it to get a "clean" shot from the other side, because why not. The yellow house is where the local bands play their music. Before that it was a privade recidence. One of the kids that grew up there, Birdman, also known as Jocke became a musician and have played at the local rock festival several times.

Vinterbänk

Winter
Winter is here to stay. Snow everywhere during my walk today. This is a bench in the park in Tungelsta. As I took the photo, I was reminded about of the time when I sat down on this actual bench during the rock festival held here every Summer. There was a guy sitting next to me. He was enjoying the music, and we started to talk. After a few minutes of chit-chat he gave me a funny look, like he knew who I was, and that's when I realized that I had known him since we were teenagers. We were also classmates in secondary school. Sorry about that, Per, but people can change quite a lot if you don't see them that often.

The Duck Feeder

The Duck Feeder
As I'm typing this it is -10C from a clear blue sky. When I snapped this photo of the duck feeder at the park here in Tungelsta it was a little warmer, but not much. The birds were standing on the ice of the partly frozen Rocklösaån stream, probably waiting for the duck feeder to do her thing.

At the pop-up cafe

At the pop-up cafe
A cafe opened in the greenhouse in the park in Tungelsta in December of last year. It quickly became quite popular in these Corona times, at least on Saturdays and Sundays when it was open. Back then it was possible to sit outside in the unusually warm winter weather but with the recent snow fall that is no longer possible.

Playground at Winter

Playground at Winter
Back home from the real Winter promenade of the year. Not very cold, around freezing, this is a building for the kids in the park in Tungelsta.

Lekplats

Lekplats
Swedish word of the day. Lekplats. New playground under construction at the park in Tungelsta. Looks like an old Volvo "rundnos" truck from the 1930s in there! A century ago, (give or take a few years), a man known locally as Cykel-Pelle lived in a house here. The old truck represents his business. You can also see a "torklada", representing the many laundry firms that operated here a century ago. And when it is all ready for the kids there will also be a building representing all the greenhouse nurseries from way back when.

Broräcke

Broräcke
Swedish word of the day. Broräcke. Snow on the railing on the wooden bridge at the park in Tungelsta. When I walked back half an hour later kids were playing in the park and the untouched snow were gone.

Glasshouse no longer

Växthuset
After 800 smashed and replaced windows, the local historical association, Folk & Trädgård in Tungelsta gave up. The new acrylic sheets should be a bit harder to break for the local kids. You will find this little greenhouse in the park in Tungelsta. It has been used for wedding parties and more. Not sure how appealing this new look will be, but the greenhouse will still be used for the upcoming Christmas market.

MISA

MISA MISA
No sunshine today. Dark skies when MISA took to the stage during the annual rock festival in the park in Tungelsta. They sang a cappella and did among other songs a few abba classics. The event is known as Trädgårdsrocken and is a local institution by now this is the 18 year of the festival. So far the rain has stayed away and as I'm typing this the reggae band The Clifftones are performing. More photos in the coming days.

The Tower

The Tower
This sculpture is called Tornet, The Tower. Originally made by Jan Håfström. It stands in the park in Tungelsta. The kids enjoyed climbing on it a little too much so it started to fall apart. No one seemed to care much about that, but then in October of 2014 the municipality put up a fence around the sculpture and earlier in the Summer the repair work started. And then last week, nearly two years later it have been repaired. Not to it's former glory, because it looks a bit different and I don't think that the artist who created it has had any say in the repair job.

Abramis Brama

Sign of the horns Enkel Biljett Abramis Brama
A bit of Stoner rock in the Summer evening. Abramis Brama on stage during the rock festival in Tungelsta last Saturday. The name is the Latin word for Carp bream. The Stockholm band have played together since 1997. For a rock band today they are a but unconventional as they sing in Swedish and not English.

Park Life

Rocker Chick The Boys Are Back In Town Teenage boys dream girl If you need a table
Around 1500 people gathered in the park in Tungelsta on Saturday for the annual rock festival. The official name is Trädgårdsrocken. It is a free festival organized by Musikcentralen, open for anyone. Lots of drinking in the warm weather but no real problems. I'm still editing photos but here are a few candids.

First on stage during this years rock festival in the park in Tungelsta, Trädgårdsrocken, was Ebba & Zelda. The weather is amazing. 25C from a clear blue sky and the park is filled with people. More photos in the coming week.
