Autumn Wedding

Walking through the Stockholm City Hall garden, I stopped for a listen to this bride as she was reading her wedding vows, in English, to her future husband. They had two photographers with them, and you can see one of them here. It was a beautiful Autumn day and several couples were tying the knot. The garden was filled with people enjoying a glass of Champagne and having a great time.

Summer bride

Walking into the courtyard at Stockholm City Hall, this was the first thing I saw. A bride standing on the stairs having her photo taken by a photographer that I have seen here several times. RS Photo. And as I already had my camera ready, I took the top photo, before continuing my walk over to the garden where I sat down for a bite to eat. A few minutes later the photographer and the wedding couple, now also with the groom, joined me down by the water at the Riddarfjärden Bay, so I took two more photos, because why not.

Ten flea market scenes

Back at the weekly flea market at Hötorget, Haymarket in English. Always fun to do some people watching. I never buy anything, I am happy enough walking around with my Canon snapping away left and right.

Autumn Wedding

A short visit to Stockholm City Hall. If you pick the correct day of the week, chances are that you will walk into a wedding shoot, as Stadshuset is a very popular place for that sort of thing.

NexusBall People Shots

Ten candid photos from the NexusBall Rally at Norrbro. The top photo shows Janne Taxi. A man who has led a very tough life. Portrait and story here. I don't know the woman in the yellow dress, but I know who she is supposed to be. A character from a classic Swedish movie called Sällskapsresan. She wasn't the only one dressing up, as you can see in some of my shots. And if you have backpiece tattoo, why not show it to everyone when you can. There was also a lot of smoke because, why not, I guess. Stop by tomorrow to see them all drive away.

I was standing on a bridge the other day, Västerbron, taking photos of an old wooden building, down below. It dates back nearly two centuries. It is located near a popular beach, Smedsuddsbadet at Kungsholmen. The building stood empty for several years before it opened as a newly renovated restaurant called Eden, earlier this Summer. And the idea was to write a post about it, and now I sort of have, but standing there I noticed the two girls on their Standup Paddleboards and for whatever reason my focus changed to them.

Uniformed

These guys are a bit higher up in the military hierarchy compared to the duo in yesterday's post. They all noticed me, and at least the guy in the middle gave me a little smile. They were walking up Slottsbacken at the Royal Palace. Since I know very little about full dress uniforms I can't tell you the ranks of these three, all I can say is that they must be from the Swedish Navy.

Play Me, I’m Yours

Parkoperan. Street piano at Årstaviken. I think it must have been replaced recently. This girl knew how to play it so good to see that people are using it.

Brittsommar II

A few scenes from last weekend at Södermalm in Stockholm. From Årstaviken and Tantolunden. Glorius weather, what we call Brittsommar. The first photo shows a new café at Rackarbacken. You have a great view over the bay from the new terrace. Second snap shows people out for a "Höstpromenad" along Årstaviken. Boating is always popular around here. A food truck with a funny name. Håll struten, a bit of a word pun here. Håll truten, means shut up. Strut means ice cream cone. So shut up and enjoy an ice cream. The fifth scene shows you that the sailing season has come to an end.

Moment of Zen

A moment of zen at Hammarby Sjöstad in Stockholm. A woman enjoying the fine weather at Södra Hammarbyhamnen. Just behind her yachts and speedboats were going through the lock either to Hammarby Sjö and Sickla, or to Årstaviken.

Slussen

Slussen is an interesting place in Stockholm, for a lot of reasons. It is currently being rebuilt, making the traffic situation here even worse than before. It is a very busy transport hub with the Metro station and the bus terminal, so it sees a lot of people during the days, and evenings, which is why it is popular with street photographers. Here are three photos from two recent visits. The photographer in the top photo had just photographed the Polish people in their National costumes when I snapped the photo of him in action. The two teenage girls had just walked up the golden bridge, and the kissing couple were saying their goodbyes at the Metro station.

Street Scenes

Götgatsbacken is a very busy pedestrian street at Södermalm in Stockholm. The street is lined with restaurants and shops, and it is always filled with tourists, locals and people just passing by on foot, bike or e-scooters. I snapped a photo of a jazz band here a while back, and decided the other day to jump off my eBike and take a few street photos to show you how it looks on a week day. Oh, and it was only after arriving home and going through the photos that I noticed that the woman in the top photo gave me some tongue!

A silent tango

Cycling along Årstaviken a while back, I noticed these two kids at the outdoor dance arena, known as Sprallen, working on their tango moves. Årstaviken is a picturesque promenade along the water, probably the most popular promenade in the Nation's Capitol.

A candid collage and a portrait

Street and candid photography are always fun. It's up there on my top list with real street portraits, and here is a combination of the two. The collage consists of 16 photos that I took in July. All in Stockholm at different places. The girl in the portrait photo can also be found in the collage. I spotted her and her boyfriend as they were paddleboarding along the canal at Djurgården last week, so I took a few photos before cycling on. And then a few minutes later, as I was enjoying a light lunch on the grass close to the water, she paddled up to me and asked if I had taken her photo. Sure did, was my answer. I want the photos, she said, so I told her where she could see them and as I lifted the camera again to take a portrait of her she couldn't stop smiling. The photos in the collage are from Hammarby Sjöstad, Sickla, Kungsholmen, Långholmen, Skeppsholmen and a few other places.

A Candid Moment

Stockholm Romance. After a 100-minute-long bike ride, I took the first photo of the day at Strömkajen in Stockholm. I spotted the kissing couple sitting at a park bench near Bolinderska palatset and Grand Hotel. Had they not been kissing, they would have had a great view over Stockholms slott, the royal palace where the King has his office.

A Moment of Zen

And then she opened her eyes, noticed me, and that was that. From my most recent visit to Nynäshamn and the always busy harbour area. I'm guessing she was waiting for one of the archipelago ferries to arrive.

Mismatched Socks

It is so hot this Summer that people apparently dress anyway they want! Mismatched socks, and socks with sandals. Anything goes! As seen on a warm day along Riddarfjärden in Stockholm a couple of days ago.
