Ellen

Ellen
This is Ellen. I spotted her at my favorite cafe, Malmens konditori in Handen. She was having coffee with her family when I arrived. I walked over and asked if I could take her portrait when they were done, and she happily said yes. Twenty minutes later we headed over to a little park for an impromptu photo session. I asked her about her outfit and she explained that this is how she dresses every day. It's a 1940s dress style and she wears it perfectly down to the lipstick, shoes, and handbag. Ellen told me that she spends a lot of her free time at home. She enjoys needlework and baking, and as you can guess anything to do with vintage things, and visits as many flea markets as she can. In the future she sees herself working as a paraprofessional, possibly at a retirement home.

Horseback rider

Horseback rider
Young girl out horseback riding on the path near the old tree. They were riding slowly because the horse had been around for a long long time. And also because it was another beautiful Summer day, and no one is in a rush on days like these.

Isabelle

Isabelle
This is the very photogenic Isabelle. I spotted her a while back on one of those really warm days. As soon as I saw her I knew that I had to ask her for a few portraits. I hope everyone can see the slideshow, if not just follow this link to my flickr set.

A casual pose

A casual pose
Mathilda came walking over the bridge at Gudöbroleden just as I had stopped to see if I could get a few photos of vintage cars, but I gave up on that idea as soon as I noticed Mathilda. Midday and strong sunshine, perhaps not the ideal time for portraits, but if you see a photogenic woman what are you to do!

The Graffer

Miranda
This is Miranda. I spotted her beautiful red hair from a distance near Hanveden on what was probably the last Summer day of the year. I knew that I had to stop and ask her for a portrait. Miranda wants to work with stage lighting when she graduates from secondary school next year. She is a graffiti artist and didn't want to tell me her street art name, but she told me about a place not far from where we met where she has done a few wall paintings. Only yesterday she did some work at the legal graffiti wall at Snösätra in Rågsved.

Two different Portraits

Portrait of a blonde girl A Candid Portrait
So the plan for me at the big greaser meet at Vegabaren over the weekend was to shoot a lot of portraits with the full frame Canon (the 6D), using the Nifty Fifty lens. And to shoot the rest of the photos with the old Canon, using the silent zoom lens. Arriving to the meet I parked my bike and walked in. Immediately surrounded by interesting people and cool cars I reached for the cameras only to realise that I had left the battery to the 6D at home in the charger! Which is why both these portraits of the blond cutie were taken with the old Canon. She was sitting in a car looking a bit bored so I asked her to step out into the sunshine so that I could take a portrait. Earlier in the day I had already taken the candid photo of her.

The Mauritian Girl

Luka
This is Luka. A very photogenic girl. Spotted her at the lakes on Thursday. She was out walking her dog. Luka is an aspiring writer. She enjoys making comics, but is yet to publish anything of her work. Her studies takes up most of her time. She grew up on Mauritius, her big hobby back then was swimming. I haven't taken as many portraits this year so it was fun with an impromptu photo shoot with the photogenic redhead! Enjoy the slideshow.

Can I take your photo?

Can I take your photo?
Every year there's a few fun contests at the Grand Prix Raggarbil event. One of them being best looking greaser girl. Carro didn't partake, but if she had I'm pretty sure she could have won the whole thing as she was the prettiest girl I saw there all day.

Love Loyalty Respect

Ramou
From a distance I spotted a girl in a long blue dress. So I headed that way in the hope of getting a portrait or two. This is Ramou (the name is Gambian). She lives in Handen and works for the project Lugna Gatan. They try to make the Stockholm underground a safer place for young people so she often works late nights and weekends. Her hobbies includes traveling and she told me about visiting Marocko, London and Gambia.

Beatrice

Beatrice I was on my way home after a rather unsuccessful day of photography when I spotted a blond girl with silver colored shoes. So I decided to ask her for a portrait. This is Beatrice. From Västerhaninge. Still in secondary school. But she has already decided on her future. Beatrice is a future economist. Her hobbies include working out at the gym and playing classical pieces on the piano. It was a tricky shoot, the wind picked up. I used one focus point and aimed for one of her eyes, but on a few of the photos the camera locked on to her blond hair that was flying left and right!

The Longboard Girl

Tove The Longboard Girl
It's been a cold and rainy Summer this year, and I haven't shot as many street portraits as I would normally do, but when I saw Tove riding her longboard in Handen yesterday I decided to ask her for a portrait. Tove graduated from secondary school earlier in the year, but is yet to figure out her next move in life. She enjoys photography and her next camera will be a Canon. Such a clever girl! She also likes drawing and painting.

Ananya

Ananya High Heels
Who doesn't like shoes? I have to confess that the first thing I noticed when I spotted Ananya in Handen a while back was her high heels. And she had no trouble walking in them. She is a student who, if everything goes according to plan is a future dentist. Ananya moved to Sweden four years ago from Bangladesh. She lived in a city and the differences between the two countries are very big. She enjoys travelling and visited Germany recently, she has also been back to the old country once.

Nicole

Nicole
Nicole is in a band. They play Japanese Rock. She is the bass player. It's a newly formed band, so they don't have a cool name yet. I spotted Nicole as she was walking in front of me near the commuter station in Handen a few days ago. It was of course her cool hair that made me ask her for a portrait.

Coffee Talk

Amanda
There's a new waitress at my favorite cafe, Malmens konditori. At least during the weekends. She is a very fun girl. Very positive and talkative. And she has great eyes which I noticed the first time I saw her, so on a recent visit I chased the poor girl around the cafe before I could get a few snaps. She works alongside her grandmother Elisabeth, whom I have at least one photo of. She is the woman behind the wheels here.
