LSotY

LSotY
Last Selfie of the Year, and Decade. Yesterday we had 9C from a very grey sky. Today it is a little colder, maybe 5C but there is a blue sky so I didn't have to fake my smile here. Happy New Year.

Övre Björkhagen

Övre Björkhagen
Getting colder again. Freezing today. This is Övre Björkhagen, a cottage in Österhaninge. A few families have called this place home, but not for many years now. Last it was used was for paintball games.

The Dome

The Dome
The dishwasher gave up. As they do. Ordered a new machine. As one does. With "free" installation, and removal of the old one. But the delivery guys refused to install the new machine as there was a big water leak under the machine. They told me that I had to move the socket before they would come back. And that I needed a qualified electrician for that job. That was in October. Been doing the dishing by hand ever since. This very cool dome appeared this evening while I was doing the dishing-up. Could be some sort of sign I guess. And as this will be my only photo for the day it will be my 59th photo in the 100 Days Of Darkness project

Roe deer resting

Roe deer resting
I decided to leave home without the trusted Canon, which is never a good idea. So when I spotted this roe deer minutes after going out I turned around walked back home, got the camera and luckily for me it was still there a couple of minutes later.

Contemplating

Contemplating
A very calm December day at my favorite beach. It didn't feel much like Christmas in mid-winter.

Christmas Reflections

Christmas Reflections
Grey skies and maybe 4C yesterday. I took a bike ride to the beach. This is the big Christmas tree on the square at Årsta Havsbad, between the taverna and the grocery store, both closed for the season. It was a very calm day so I think I got a few good photos of the bay, might show you one tomorrow. A few people had a BBQ down by the water. I also spotted one guy out flying a wooden model airplane. I told him that it looked like a good Christmas gift. Over at the driving range at Fors Golf one guy was busy practicing his golf swing. So no real White Christmas in my neck of the woods this year. Day 55 in my project 100 Days Of Darkness.

Cracked Ice

Cracked ice Ice
Interesting weather lately. Snow one day. Followed by a few days with warmer weather melting the snow. Then a couple of days with a lot of rain so that it was flooding all over. That was followed by a cold day, hence all the cracked ice here at a field at Stav in Tungelsta.

Tingshuset

Tingshuset
This is "Sotholms Härads Tingshus" in Västerhaninge. Built between 1731 and 1734. Then a pub, (until 1844,) and then it served as the district court until 1916. It has also been used as a post office, shop, and as a private residence. Today used as a museum, library, and meeting place for the local historical association Haninge Hembysgille. Day 46 in my project 100 Days Of Darkness.

The Spiral

The Spiral
Another gloomy December day in Haninge. It started to rain as I biked my way up the photogenic and very ugly spiral at the Rudan nature reserve a couple of hours ago. Day 45 in my project 100 Days Of Darkness. And yes, the snow from earlier in the week is gone.

Winter at Mulsta

Winter at Mulsta
Back in the early days of flickr, some 14 years ago now, I uploaded a version of this view. I called it Horses in a snowstorm. Earlier this week I got a payout from Pixsy after they had found that a company had used the photo without my consent.

11:55 AM

11:55 AM At five to twelve on Saturay I was crossing a snow-covered field at Krigslida. Many years ago my family owned and used the field. Growing up dad told us the horrible story about when he worked on the field spreading out DDT against insects. That was before anyone knew how dangerous DDT was. It messed up his face pretty badly and made him look much older than he was. The old barn seen here was once part of the Krigslida farm. The farmhouse was destroyed in a fire, it was nearly 400 years old, the barn is newer, it is newer. Never been inside so I don't know if there's anything of interest in there.
