I haven't done one of these for a while. Different Seasons. The left side shows the magnificent tree in late September when we still had Summer weather. The right side is from this week.

Autumn Vs. Winter

Walking past the little barn at the Välsta horse farm yesterday I stopped for a photo as I have done many times before. Last time I showed you a photo of it was back in October of last year. And with a bit of magic here are yesterdays photo combined with that Autumn snap. If you have a good memory you might remember that I have tried that here once before last January.

Autumn Vs. Winter

How to shoot Different Seasons photos. Take a photo of something, in this case an old building at a horse farm at Välsta. Wait for the weather/season to change a bit. Go back for another photo. Try to remember from where you shot the first snap (i.e look at it before you go back and take the second photo). Open both photos in your preferred software. Crop one of the photos in half and paste that half onto the other photo. It will probably not fit perfect so you might have to resize it a few times.

Winter Vs. Summer

Haven't done one of these for a while. This is Hagstugan in Tungelsta. Shot the winter side of the diptych just over a week ago. The summer side is from July of this year. The cottage dates back 300 years.

Autumn Vs. Spring

Time for another different seasons diptych. This is the Dahlgrengårdens farm house at the Tyresta village in the national park. I shot the autumn photo in October of 2010. The somewhat duller early spring side of the diptych is from my visit last week. The farm house is old. It was moved to this location back in 1750. Before that it was up on a hill a few hundred meters from here. No one lives in this house today and it is part of the national park and anyone can go in for a look around. A few winters ago I did just that when they had a Christmas market here.

One week later

What a difference a week can do. It was only last week that I showed you a photo of the old tree with two cross-country skiers on the path, and it is in fact them you can see on the left side of this diptych. Now most of the snow is gone as you can see on the right hand side. I shot these two photos from a slightly different angle than I would normally do, but still standing on the path, that does a full circle around the Swedish Whitebeam. Winter Vs. Summer

As you probably know I do enjoy going back for another look at different places. It was only in December of last year that I showed you a Different Seasons diptych from the Hammar estate. Back then it was a combination of an unusual winter photo and a misty autumn shot. This time around it is real winter vs. early summer. I shot the snow photo just a few days ago and the green side in May of 2009. Probably a good thing that it wasn't a flag day, that would have made it rather tricky to line up the two photos.

Winter & Autumn at the Cemetery

Sometimes when I visit the cemetery in Västerhaninge I will have a look at this headstone. Buried here are four people. My great grandparents, Johan Fredrik Jansson, and his wife Hanna. And my grandparents, Harald Jansson and his wife Alma. All on my dads side of the family. The winter half of the diptych dates back to December 2004. The autumn photo to November of last year.

Long Term Parking

Normally when I make my different seasons diptychs, I will look for a landscape, like the old tree, (the best one if you ask me), or a building, like the horse farm earlier in the week, so this diptych is a bit different. I first noticed the Golf back in November. It was parked next to a garage in Jordbro and covered with leaves, so I stopped for a fun autumn photo, I remember using the 50mm lens. Since then the car hasn't moved a bit, and so yesterday I stopped for a winter version. This time I used the 18-55 mm lens, but I managed to remember from where to shoot, it and it came out OK I think.

Winter Days

I think that Gråbergsvägen has to be one of the shortest roads in Tungelsta. With two, or if it is three houses. This is one of them. A little horse farm that always looks good on a photo, as proven with this diptych. The blue sky version is from three days ago when we had a very cold day. The right hand side shows the place back in November of last year when the first snow-fall of the season happened. Sadly there were no horses out in the pasture on either of those two visits. But in one of the other houses here you will find the very photogenic Cookie the Peacock.

January VS. November

Sometimes when I go for a photo promenade around Tungelsta I will take the first photo at the commuter station. One reason is just to get going. I will often photograph the same places and buildings over and over as you all know. This is the traffic mirror at the station. I shot the winter half yesterday and the autumn photo in November last year. I wear the same outfit on both photos but have added the beanie because of the recent cold spell.

The Youth Centre

The last time I showed you a photo of the former fire station in Tungelsta it was because I saw a Winter Halo in the sky. My dad was a volunteer fire fighter here for a quarter of a century. Today the building is used as a youth centre and the nearest fire station is in Handen ten kilometres away. These two photos shows the miniature golf course that I never saw anyone use, and I think it is gone now. The winter half of the diptych is from two winters ago, when we actually had snow. The summer version dates back to May of 2008.

I took the autumn half of this diptych in early October. The only reason for taking the photo of the tree in Handen was to make a diptych when the first snow came, so here it is. We haven't had any more snow, and from this afternoon it is said to be warmer. The forecast for Monday is a weird one. We can expect something like 10C, that sounds more like spring than mid winter.

To the left is how the tree lined avenue at the 200-year old Hammar estate looks like today. The unused driveway is being fixed. It is supposed to be winter now, but it sure doesn't look like it. To the right how it looked on a misty November day back in 2009. I shot the 2009 photo with the Canon 300d, and the winter photo with the Canon 550d.

Time for another Different Seasons Diptych. This is the old estate Hesslingby, in rural Österhaninge. The left half of the diptych is an Autumn version that I shot a few days ago. The right half shows a summer view from July of 2010. Back in 1640 there lived a Field Marshall here. Now, some 370 years later the estate has been turned into a couple of apartments.

June Vs. August

Just for the fun of it I made another Different Seasons diptych with the stable building at the Nödesta farm. The left side of the diptych is from late June when the canola field was blooming. The right side is how it looks at the Nödesta farm today.

Steffe Vs. Steffe

I sometimes aim the camera the wrong way. And here's proof, in the form of two diptychs. The first one is Summer Vs. Winter. It shows a recent self portrait shot in a field belonging to the Nödesta farm. I took the winter snap in the same area on a cold day as I was heading for the old tree. Second diptych shows two summer portraits taken two years apart.I shot the canola portrait last week, also at the Nödesta farm. The other portrait is from the summer of 2009.
