Walking on ice

Grass at the lake Walking on ice
It has been very cold the last couple of weeks, and the lower lake at the Rudan nature reserve in Handen is still frozen. I wanted to take a bike ride over the lake, but the ice was very unfriendly to the bike tyres, so I had to walk. Here are two photos I took during the promenade. It is the same buildings on both photos. Very happy with the bokeh on the grass photo.

'A bike ride over the lake' just seems like the strangest statement to me Steffe.. Really like the first shot, nice one!

I love how the out of focus beackground complements the colours of the feathery reed grass.

From cold, blustery Vienna, sunny greetings,

It's so cold there is nobody out and about except for one crazy photographer on a bike! :)

There's three young women walking over the ice, a little to the left. But it was a cold day.

One of those cold clear winter days! Love the grass shot too.

The first one is very beautiful, earth tones made prominent in a frozen landscape. I have never walked on a frozen body of water. The Mississippi used to freeze a century of more ago but no more. The rivers and bays of New York, where I grew up, are salt water and very rarely froze.

Nice pictures! We may get snow tomorrow night in Virginia but I hope it won't amount to much.
