A Winter Afternoon

A Winter Afternoon

Four photos in one for Skywatch Friday. The days are very short now. The sun is only up seven hours per day this time of the year. I shot these snaps from home yesterday. The greenhouse in the background was built back in 1990 by a Norwegian company. I remember setting up all the greenhouse tables together with my brother that spring. These days the greenhouse belongs to Blomorado, and if you would like to see how it looks inside with thousands of poinsettia plants, step back in time to 2006. Or to August that same year when the plants had just arrived and Danuta was busy spraying the green plants.

Very interesting experience.
I plan to go indoors for shooting for nearest 4 months, Low gray sky and short days leave no chances outdoors.

We got our first shot of winter this early AM. Little snow, little sleet, little freezing rain. Summer is GONE!

Very nice sequence, Steffe. Only seven hours of daylight? Oh, I don't think I could handle that!

Wow seven hours! I suppose if I thought about that long enough it makes perfect sense. Very interesting photos to see and information to hear - so different from here.

There is something warm and homey with a lantern lit... Nice touch.

How lovely. You have captured that subtle transition of shifting light at this time of year, the way the world dims and then is taken over by the tiny pulse of lamplight. Wonderful!

Four months indoors sounds tough Irina!

The four photos were taken within one hour Leif. The first one at 2:41 pm and the last one at 3:42 pm.

It's no easy Jack!

Sun up today at 8:07 am. Sun down at 3:03 pm.

Great composition of shots. Your days get shorter, ours longer - but the change is pretty slow now.
