Waiting for the Snow Cannon
We are expecting what's called a Snow Cannon. It can hit coastal areas in early Winter. Very cold air (from Russia in this case), travels over the warmer Baltic Sea, and that difference in temperature creates a snow cloud that hits coastal areas. I live just a kilometre from the coast, so I cant wait! Thirty years ago one city in Sweden closed down totally when they had 140 centimetres of snow in a few days. Three years ago, Nynäshamn (close to my area),was hit with 50 centimetres of snow. I took a photo promenade today so that I would have some before and after the Snow Cannon pictures.

Wow! Great shots.
I hope it stays over there!
Exciting! I can't wait to see "that tree" after the cannon.
Wow,- do keep warm!:)
I have to say that I look forward to more photos coming soon from Haninge......
But I have to say that "winter" is not my time of the year....
I can't wait either! For me all this snow is simply amazing, and the ice, well ... incredible!

I never heard of a snow cannon before. The closest thing we have might be a "snow squall." I like the sound of a snow cannon better though. Another great shot of that old tree.
Have fun in the snow. We call those kind of storms Alberta Clippers - they come to us from the northwest, really fast, with lots of snow!
l'arbre sous la neige est magnifique. j'adore cette photo
I just shiver thinking about it. But you enjoy and I'll enjoy your photos!!
i love the idea of a snow cannon. around here (new england) they use man made snow cannons to put snow on the mountains early for skiers to enjoy.
looking forward to your before and after!
hihihihihi. snow cannon...
good luck!
and yes, picture the tree then again! (if its still visible... ;) )
I'm sad to report that the Snow Cannon,(also known as Lake Effect Snow), hasn't lived up to it's reputation, yet. So far we have only had a few centimetre's of snow, although it has of course caused chaos in the traffic, which I guess counts for something!
I can feel your disappointment but who knows what surprises mother nature has in store for you in the coming days, weeks, months.
Well, we must keep waiting for the promised photo ;-)
It looks just like here except for the snow, lack of leaves, and the storm clouds.
A snow cannon! I love the expression! That snow-laced tree is gorgeous-- I have traveled all over town looking for a similar tree, just all by itself, for changing weather shots, but still haven't found one. Yours is lovely!
